Imagine if you and your coworkers could set your own pay raises...I'd bet you would see the same...does anyone really think that $25000000 is the worst part of the bill? Its .001% of the total expense...yes it's absolutely criminal in these times, but I think there are much bigger problems with other portions of the pork that we will be paying for...everybody seems to want a hand out that in the grand scheme of things isn't gonna help.

It surely isn't just NYC...for us in central NY, look to Syracuse next...the proverbial cat was out of NYC before we knew it was in NYC! We are weeks behind the curve at a minimum...i said wait a few weeks because I think by then we will see how bad upstate could actually be. No it won't be over by then.... months for that...Mr clean is right... fishing solo or with those under the same roof will be our only hope to even be fishing at all...I hope I'm wrong.

I will say if you are front steering with a trolling motor having the mast right in the bow it collapses the inside line more and if you are steering normally and have the masts back like mine the inside line does the same thing. How the boards track during turns is definitely dependant on the position and height of the tow point on the boat. Of course the location of the tow point on the board itself is a big factor as well. Tweaking these things and getting boards to pull proudly takes a bit of effort trial and error. Captain Rick from Yankee troller gave out some great advice on knot distances for otter boards a few years back that really helped me and got me paying attention to the other factors as well.

I'm solo and BUSY and I wanted to just reach it...I've done it both ways and getting it so you can reach and not snag a tow line on a rod is tricky, and probably not feasible unless you have a long reach.

The campground launch is open on Otisco as of yesterday anyways. It's a single person operation though...things will tighten...no way to predict where this is headed as it's all uncharted water. I'd like to think we will be able to fish at least and hopefully get some charter business at some point. Stay safe!!!

Mine are 8 foot off the water... IMO the pulley needs to be in front of the rods couple feet to keep the rods out of the tow line and if the pulleys are farther forward of that it will work better but then you need a hook or rope to reach it. Not sure if you can see in pic what I mean but... again it's all about going getting it the way you want it for your application. I've redone the layout of my boat several times and have things I'd still like different. Just depends on how far you wanna go!

Couldn't agree more! I started with a lot of inexpensive and home made stuff and caught just as many fish. The expensive systems ultimately make fishing easier, last far longer, and are attractive. I'd try to get on a couple of different boats and see what fits your budget and your needs. There is no universal best set up. Many guys love vertical trees, me included, for boards and others swear by holders in track. It's so hard to make an educated investment until you actually try different setups. For me, I'm tall and want everything up and out of my way, so I went with a Great Lakes Planers system with a rocket launcher and reels. For a track rod holders I like the Fat A.Z. holders tho I doubt you will find them on many boats outside of musky guys, but these are super rugged and can tip down with your rod in the water or point up all while keeping your rod secure. Nothing quite as explosive as a musky strike in the prop wash at 4-5 mph with only a couple feet of line out and a tight drag!

They have started moving in a couple of places I know of so I'd guess anytime now would be a good time. I actually haven't ever went looking in daylight...much easier to count em and check size with a light in my areas anyway. 35 more days...

Hard not to believe that in 1400 pages there isn't a few things that aren't geared towards the avg person...I wouldn't want to be the person who forced Congress to return to Washington...once you are on Trumps bad side it doesn't end well!!

I said from the start you can do it for now but it's not feasible. Im crossing my fingers for mid May, but not optimistic! Looks I'm gonna get some time to fish myself personally! The lodging is the part that is going to be the worst problem for me at least. Even after the worst is over disinfecting daily is going to be a nightmare...a boat is a far easier situation. I may not do any lodging unless it's a multiple day trip ...can't imagine any other way. We all just have to tighten our belts a little and just persevere like every other hard working American! I've been trying to put my situation in perspective...it's nothing compared to what our healthcare professionals are doing for all of us! Along with all our troops, police and first responders that lay it on the line every day. Something to think about when you feel overwhelmed!

For a family I'd say you are on the right track. When I built my toon I converted the changing room to a chemical bucket toilet. Game changer for family fishing and even more so with guiding family fishing!

They definitely don't read the bills...cliff notes from a staffer at best I'd say! Figure I'll use mine for new trolling reels...anyone that needs the money it's not enough to last long I wouldn't think. I'll put it right back in the economy...last time I bought a Winchester model 70! Still smile every time I use it!

It looks identical to the one int picture I think. I don't know much about the hewescraft models so I can't say for sure, but it looks like a tank!! I'm a big fan of aluminum boats as well, but on Otisco the perfect aluminum boat is a pontoon hands down! Now add a pilot house to a tri toon and now you have my future project. Just have to wait till there are beat up tri toons laying around to buy to do the build...

There is a hewescraft that I see at the Otisco launch a few days a year, and I've talked to the guy several times and checked it out. It's an unreal ultimate trolling boat. He launches it no prob and it doesn't seem like it's too much boat to me....just too much money!!

Not sure how many people have interest in the public launch project on Otisco, but I was up fishing on the last day of walleye season, March 15th and it looked to me like it might be ready this season. Obviously, with the pandemic, this may take a bit longer. I took a picture from the causeway, but it isn't great, and by the time I went back it was too dark to get any better pics. I'll probably sneak up early am soon for some smallie action and I'll get better pics. Personally, I wouldn't use the public launch when there is a much better launch at the campground. I'll take bathrooms, a store, garbage cans, more parking, a full time mechanic on site, bait shop, and oh btw support the local economy.

I'm not much of a dancer or any good at the arts, but yes I can run solo trips with the right group or individual and keep 6 feet of distance. Obviously a "make wish trip" with a kid in a wheelchair isn't going to possible, but on a fly-fishing trip I'm not within 6 feet or casting trips for that matter. Trolling is doable as well. My point was the law isn't what is going to prevent us from making money...it's cancelled trips. NY may shut down outdoor guides, but they haven't yet.

It's totally legal still to run charters/guide if done right....that's not the issue...you won't have enough customers to make it feasible enough to make any money nor does it's seem possible to protect yourself day after day if you could find customers

Like I said, legally it's not an issue to do charters, the six feet is tricky, and you can only do 1 person or family...but not necessarily feasible. We need to stay home a couple more weeks and hope that we can flatten the curve and get past this by summer time.
