  1. I have been contemplating on adding weight to the front. Couple of things though. #1. I have my porta john in the front..#2 Ireally dont like the idea of adding 200+ lbs in one location and being there all the time. I fear for what the impact is on the decking..
  2. early velvet stage it broke

    New VHF radio

the one that ERABBIT indicated has built in GPS now.
  4. Most likely knocked out from traumatic shock.
  5. I remove my swivel each time so that I can reel the wire back onto the reel. no big deal to re-tie the swivel
  6. I have an older VHF radio, think it is a Realistic or something like that. It has the really flat push buttons. It works but the buttons stick. Had allot of trouble changing to a particular channel. Not something I want to screw around with. I ahve the 8' antenna so that is good. I would like to replace the VHF this coming year. I dont know much about them. I know that there is one that sends out your location or something? I dont have any electronics that I would tie it to and most likely wont. Just looking for a decent VHF under $200. Recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks
  7. Looking into booking a site at the park for a week. Thinking end of July. Can anyone recommend a decent site there as I have never been. We have a 24' RV and my 221 Islander. Would like a site with a Power hookup for sure.
  8. How many come in eac hindividual pack? and what is the difference between the Green and Red labels other than the damn color?
  9. yeah, mine wanders some too but I am not as worried about the wandering while trolling as I am the getting up on plane/staying on plane at lower RPM and putting the nose in the chop while on plane. The islander is used primarily for recreation at this point..maybe 60% rec and 40% fishing
  10. Was my first year with the 221 Islander. Boat ran great. I purchased a new 4 blade prop for the boat and it seemed to plane off and hold its plane better than with the standard 3 blade. However, the boat is still relatively heavy in the back with the V6 and the 9.9HP kicker off the kicker bracket, coolers and majority of people. Seriously thinking about having trim tabs installed. Curious to know if anyone, particularly Islander owners, have had tabs installed. I would also like to know the pros and cons of different tab systems. i.e. hydraulic/electric vs the Smarttabs. I am leaning towards the electric or hydraulic. I think that it would make a huge difference in the boats performance.
  11. Sure, we dip smelt all the time. and yes, the are very tasty.
  12. I dont know if this thread is out there already. Would love to hear what it was. Which was your goto combo for the 2013 season.?

  15. yeah so to speak. broke the handle on the paddle..talk about a run row around the pond haha
  16. I will stick my 221 islander on the top of my RV and send you a pic! now that is impressive!
  17. was a tough year for us guys with no down temp
  18. Hence the reason I bought my Lifetime Sportsman License three years back before they upped the cost of them..I figure I will already be at the break even point in 2 years
  19. Sounds like cayuga is worse than Lake O for Lamprey
  20. the only king I caught this year was a 24lb with the adipose fin intact
  21. haha. I have the same Eagle FF. I am upgrading next year for sure. want something with GPS and FF capabilities and at least a 7" screen if possible depending on $. Was ready to pull the trigger on the Lowrance Elite 7 but with all the bad press on this site I am holding off on that. I dont want the down imaging or side imaging BS. May have to go down to staying with the 5" screen on a Humminbird model. Cant afford a Furanu or Raymarine or anything like that
  22. Its a weird year. allot fish running up the river and sounds as though still allot in the deep water. Must be waves offish will be the norm this year
