  1. I checked out that Screwey Louis online. looks like a great spot to stay..Might have to do that if we dont use the RV next time
  2. Those are sweet boats for sure. there is another line similar, forget the make though
  3. 8 miles! man, yeah you should then! haha
  4. ok, at first I was planning on using an albright knot which I most likely still will. I was provided info that even though I will be using a SPRO ball bearing swivel on both the SD or the dodger that Ishould also use a bb swivel for the leader to reduce twist even more? Hence my question of the barrel swivel. At first, I was not going to go the barrel swivel route
  5. I have been considering the same thing. I just ran out of $ this year outfitting the Islander. My $400 bill in new radial trailer tires trumped my new fishfinder..But hey, at least I can make it to the water now in confidence! haha. I will be using the old Eagle fishfinderthat came with the boat and my handheld Garmin Rhino GPS system for speed and location. Was seriously looking into the Elite 7 base model chartplotter and FF but have heard of issues. It is still my top pick for the bang for the buck at the moment though. I will also be seriously looking at acquiring some form of temp system..to what I do not know yet..Its comparing the # of trips I make each year out to fish..no clue. hope to hit May browns, one trip in July and one trip in August. that will be about it
  6. and still wind through you eyelets right
  7. What size barrel swivel should I get for connecting 30lb to 18lb..i.e. mono to flourocarbon
  8. Thanks! just ordered an orange one!
  9. Ok thanks
  10. When you say 3:1 do you mean that every 1 foot of wire out it sinks 3 feet? I know there are variables..do you mean 3' when using a flasher and fly to?
  11. anyone have a more recent report?
  12. I like that fish gripper, where did you get that?
  13. Are there any particular unique requirements of a vessel on Lake Ontario as far as regulations go? I.e. safety requirements if I should be boarded?
  14. I have installed a twili tip on my dedicated wire rod
  15. so what is the hassle with running wire? I am new to wire and am just gettting ready to rig up a 1000' wire rig. I know that you have to wind it on under tension. I have 7 strand wire.
  16. yeah thanks, that is a good idea running lead early then late. I had planned on running lead down the middle but dont know. I am thinking that if Iget a king on one of the riggers it would get tangled in the lead before we got it in...Hell, I am ready to catch a steelhead for sure! anything!
  17. Question, is it common to run a spin doc behind a dipsey? also, how common to run a spoon behind a dodger or a spin doc?
  18. no copper for me unfortunately, but from what I am guessing side planers, even inline are out for sure. I will run 2 lines off of riggers and 2 dipsey setups and maybe a lead down the shoot.
  19. My guess is that Sammy shows up Thursday night with a spoon in hand! haha
  20. Oh man well being my first time I am not gonna be right in the middle of the pack I can tell you that for sure. Will hug the outsides and try for some tragglers until I get more comfortable.
  21. well that is good to hear I guess! Will have to look into this 60' depth reasoning. I know that they will "start" to be stacking up outside of the ports/rivers etc about that time here or there.
  22. Yeah, I hope that when I get there mid August the thermocline will be more stable..
  23. Ok..Well, I am pretty much going in blind. never been there. I hope to hear some reports before I get there though! I also have no temp equipment
