    I have been a member of this site for awhile now. I have been lurking, reading, posting, asking questions ,reading reading and reading. What a great site and I am very appreciative of everyones willingness to share their knowledge. I cant wait to get out there mid August. Trip planned, making final preperations on the Islander and gear. Will I be totally ready..no way...Will I be confident enough to give it a go..hell yeah!

    I have been reading and posting on some of these derby rules and regulations. Simply put, there has to be rules and regulations that are strictly followed to keep an even playing field. The youth not being able to participate I was and still am against. The weigh in though, you have to pick a time to close. Weighing in the next morning might have guys out fishing all night when technically probably isn't a good idea. Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks 3feathers. but I think I am gonna spring for at least a 100qt cooler and maybe the 150qt size..whats another $80....haha..heck, just put $500 worth of new radial tires on the trailer just so that I can get there!

    Yup. So now that we are on the subject of keeping fish, would like to see some fish "carriers, transporters, cooler setups"..I am thinking that my 48 QT cooler isnt gonna be adequate...

    It sounds like a ton of fun. I fish my local walleye tourneys here and ice fish tourneys.. I like the challenge and typically benefits a charity or a sportsmans group. What constitutes a team? Bascially whoever you want to bring with you I would take it.

    My boat VHF has 25W and 5W capability. I tested it out for the first time this past weekend with a cousin of mine who lives on the lake. He was using his handheld in his livingroom. We were roughly 5 miles away from each other, I was obviously on the water..We were not in the line of sight with each other either (i.e. some islands in between us). His handheld transmits at 5W. I could barely hear him, he was breaking up allot. He said that I was coming in clear as a bell..no issues. I also have an 8' antenna on the boat.

    Those are my two knots now. The wireline knot for my dipsey wire. polomar knot for connecting to all terminal tackle on mono and flourocarbod..oh, and albright knot for connecting leaders etc.
