  1. I bent my stern light pole last year and replaced it instead of trying to bend it back. They are pretty cheap to replace if they aren’t LED
  2. I used to be a guy in a kayak but always had a light glowing off the stern and reflectors along the sides. Those that don’t are asking for trouble. So hard to see down on the water from a boat at night, even with a spot light.
  3. I have a con. The guys in the kayaks that don't feel they need to have any nav or anchor lights on.
  4. Very nice! Congrats and well done!
  5. I have repaired numerous rods and built a few rods including a sweet macinaw ice rod for lake trout and walleye jigging. Very sensitive, strong and attractive. I built a great ‘green hornet’ custom spinning rod with a walleye decail and rod wraps at the base resembling the Italian flag. It is a great jigging blank but only wish I had gone a bit longer than the 6’ one I chose. If I ever have the time and motivation again I will do another in a 7’ model and maybe a light action perch rod. You will be proud to use it every time out and appreciate every fish you catch with it just a little more.
  6. Very true. I’ve never met Justin in person and he has been giving me tips on fishing Otisco since I began kayak fishing 5 years ago. Now that I have a boat I can’t buy a fish there. Not a typical walleye lake for sure and he has them dialed in.
  7. Ok JohnnyW you talked me into it. I’m going to try my luck out there with my 10y/o daughter in the AM. I was running mostly perch pattern spoons and sticks out there this spring without any luck, I’ll try mixing it up a little this time.
  8. Awesome. I told my dad he won’t believe what an Otisco walleye looks like. Got 2 walleyes today jigging on Oneida and 6 sheep including one that went 10#
  9. Haha Justin you kill me. Otisco killed me every time out after 6 trips so I’ve been heading to Oneida since late July. PM me with rates, I’d love to have you take me and my Dad out so we can get a clue as to what we’re doing wrong. Heading to the Cape in a couple days but will be back Sept.1.
  10. That carp must have been a bruiser to reel up from deep water. The sheepshead have been keeping my arms warmed up but keeper ‘eyes have been few and far between the shorts. Haven’t tried trolling yet but seeing many suspended is making it more tempting
  11. Yes but is it an actual E Z Steer or something he rigged up. Those things are pricey for what they actually are.
  12. Do you have an e z steer on your kicker? I am tempted to go solo but think I could only do it if I rigged something up to be able to steer from the helm
  13. That lake has gotten the best of me this year so I have been going to Oneida to get my confidence (and walleye supply) back up.
  14. I think it’s time to put this thread to rest. I didn’t see any posts that encourage anyone to keep a tiger but congratulated her on the fish and didn’t condemn her for keeping it as an incidental catch that was a surprise. I can appreciate everyone’s passion for muscellunge and even drove to Canada for a guided trip myself and was blessed with a 46” that I released. I don’t feel tigers are anywhere near a prize fish as a purebred but considering their lack of table fare I will personally always release them but if someone happens to keep one to eat I am not heart broken. I am a tributary steelhead fisherman and see threads all year long of anglers keeping nice fish on the lake and don’t say a word. As anglers we need to respect each other’s choices and not judge because our personal choices may be different than others. Can’t we all just get along😀
  15. Not for nothing but carp are a great catch and release fish. They get huge and fight like their lives depend on it. Added bonus is that most people throw them back so your precious target fish is always a plentiful resource. I could look up the local carp fishing anglers group if you’d like me to send the link.
  16. Did some jigging at dusk last night with a friend and ended up with 7 walleyes and a 7lb sheep. 3 keepers and the rest were short. Biggest was 20”. Had a couple spit the hook that felt decent but never saw them. Nice night on the little “O”.
  17. How far off to the side will it run on setting 3? Ive been running mine at 2 and they don’t seem to plane more than 10’ off to each side, at least my line at the surface.
  18. Don’t be ashamed to be proud of a legal catch. You had every right to keep it. It’s when a fish is kept just for bragging rights and foolishly wasted afterwards that is shameful.
  19. Oh good, glad it didn’t go to waste. Milk works great and so does beer.
  20. I saw that video a year or so ago and reminds me again of how bad I want to try that on the finger lakes. Thanks again
  21. So these are two different examples. Mine is a “fixed” cheater and sk8mans is a free slider.
