  1. Great reel, wish I saw this last night. Had a striper break mine last night on the beach and ran in and bought a 6000. I could use a bigger one though. Planning on driving closer to Syracuse any time in the near future? Let me know
  2. My model has a foot pedal but there is a red button on the motor head you push to hold the course, works great so I can troll alone
  3. The smallmouth fishery may still be good for some but nothing like it was until about 2000 when VHS hit them and the shoreline was covered with dead smallies . I haven’t seen fishing anything like previous to that die off.
  4. Put our money into what we know is a sustainable fishery. If a group wants to donate their own money to stock an experiment, go for it.
  5. Thork, I went to Dicks a few weeks ago for turkey shells and found out they no longer have a guns and ammo department so I went to Walmart yesterday to get them and the shelves were bare besides a few boxes of target shells and some .22 long rounds. Not just competitions will come to a halt soon…
  6. I agree that stripers don’t have the long fighting power of a king but as far as table fair, striper wins the battle. Then again, I haven’t tasted one from freshwater only ocean caught.
  7. I just googled it. Looks like we are stuck with the adults for the next couple years. They spend their first 3-10 in the streams as juveniles.
  8. At least that will help next years crop but how long do the adult lampreys live
  9. I hear they are the best chum you can use 😉
  10. All I have to say is that I am grateful that it’s bass that are the targeted species for all of these multiple tournaments. I like to fish for them when nothing else is biting, if I have the time. With that being said it is no longer a sport the way they are fished for and it will continue to get worse as people demand instant gratification and bragging rights. The weigh in station format needs to end. With the technology on these boats one of their multiple screens could be a tv monitor or some kind of fish verification method so fish can be immediately released to where they came from. Again, I’m glad these are bass we are discussing and not carp 🫣
  11. Too bad salmon don’t eat eels like stripers do
  12. X2 on the rubber band. Attach one end to cable then the cheater clip w/swivel goes through the other end and on the main line of course. When a fish hits, it snaps the rubber band and allows the cheater to slide down your main line to the swivel.
  13. That’s a good question. I always assume walleyes because that what I mainly fish for.
  14. I only ice fish up there but all I can offer for advice is use a good map or better if you have one on your finder to see where the shoals are and start there so at least you aren’t going in blind. Independence point isnt far from the launch.
  15. Thank you for that, I just sent Rich an email. I would love to learn how to catch walleyes in that area
  16. Can anyone recommend a guide that knows the Grindstone area specifically? I would love to learn some tips on the smallmouth, walleye and pike fishing around there and see how it’s done.

Great boat, wet ride without the enclosure on
  18. Well you know Karma. We may have lost out on a couple hundred bills but that’s nothing compared to what he has coming. Pray for him.
  19. Sorry to hear. Looks like he finally deleted his account, now beware of his new log in.
  20. Maxwelll—-Do not buy from this person. Says he is selling off his tackle because he has stage 3 cancer. I just read this warning after wondering if I had been scammed and basically everything went down that they warned about. He contacted me about an item I was looking for, told me to pay Venmo or PayPal -Friends and Family and was a newly created account with no history. I expect that garbage on Craigslist but my guard was down on this site since LOU members aren’t out to screw anybody. Probably out $200 but hopefully this loser doesn’t get anyone else. Home with Covid this week so I’ll have time to shop my woes away.
  21. Yep grubby, looks like the ones I’ve caught on Cayuga lake last two years and won’t go back. I used them for fertilizer in my garden. What a shame
  22. Look on Craigslist. There is a guy that takes old boats off your hands free of charge. I did it two years ago with my old fiberglass boat that was beyond repair after it capsized.
  23. Yes totally worth it. I fish solo often and last year discovered the minn kota auto pilot feature. It is a game changer. If it’s too choppy for the trolling motor solo I use my main motor and let the auto pilot do the steering for me so my attention and hands are focused on managing lines.
  24. Thanks guys, your input helped. I ordered a 110ah battery from Walmart that looks like it will do even more than I was originally hoping for. Paid quite a bit more for it but I may comfortably be able to run my trolling motor throughout my entire half day trips which would be awesome.
