  1. I’m in Syracuse by Ononondaga Community College
  2. Selling my T Top ( top only) as is. Measurements are 6 1/2’x5’, great for a 20’ or larger center console boat. Came with my 19’ but bigger than I’d like. Made of sturdy 2 1/4” aluminum. Asking $150, pick up only.
  3. Those big breeders are very few and far between the last few years unless you’re fishing “the canal”. It’s hard enough just to find a pod of schoolies. I have never fished the Hudson run and it sounds like it’s a good opportunity to catch good numbers of fish. It’s a shame the fishery has declined so much but it’s time something is done to try to build the population back up. I get that baitfish have an impact but too many times I have found bays thick with baitfish without a single fish crashing the surface for them and it’s evident the gamefish just aren’t there.
  4. I’m all for the slot limit imo. I’ve been fishing the fall run for stripers from CT to ME since 2008 and have seen the rapid drop in numbers since probably 2010. I used to have trips where I’d land 40 stripers in a 3 day stretch with my fly rod and the next year be lucky if I got 20 over a 3 day trip to now only a handful throughout the course of a week is now “good”. Those charter boats really put the hurt on those schools and multiple boats ran 2 or 3 times daily. I get DEC updates whenever each state that I have fished has had a change in regs and strict regulations are in effect this year at least from North Carolina all the way to Mass. Hopefully in 5 years or so we’ll start seeing good “runs” again and they can loosen up the regs a little.
  5. If I were still out there I would be part of the mudline haha. No I ended up bypassing the electric starter that had blown by using a rope stringer I had on the boat to manually pull start it. Boy that first season of being a boat owner made me get to know my motor more than I ever knew I would. It was one thing after another but got everything worked out without any major catastrophes. Chomping at the bit to get out there before April
  6. Definitely would be out of the way up there and from a 7’ height and only 4’ of bow to clear in front of it should hopefully avoid glare off the boat. I may have a buddy hold a handheld spotlight from the position at night to test it before I install anything. Thanks guys for all of your input
  7. Great advice, I was concerned about glare but didn’t trust my theory without actually testing it out. Now have to find a mounting position without it being in the way since I don’t have a pulpit or a railing at the bow and don’t want to block my navigation lights from other boaters
  8. With this mild weather I have been adding additions to my boat and stuck on where to mount a spotlight for navigation. I often return back to the launch at night and want to have a permanent light mounted in the most effective spot. I plan to have my T Top installed that already has a stern light but wondering if an overhead bow light would hinder more than help rather than a light placed below eye level? Any thoughts on this?
  9. Thanks whaler, I couldn’t bare to shell out $270 when I have other additions I am hoping to add to the boat by spring. Where there’s a will there’s a way haha. Also just rebuilt the carburetor on my 6 hp kicker today and sounds like a champ!
  10. I had a hard time finding a blueprint for building my own snow frame instead of paying to have my boat shrink wrapped for the winter so I put one together myself and posting pics for others in the future. So far so good and it cost me a total of $85 between lumber and a tarp. Also, important to note that I added a frisbee to the top of each of the 2 uprights before laying the tarp down to prevent tears from weight.
  11. I like the ML Eagle Claw Starfires. Great slow action so you can fish lighter leaders if needed and get a great fight from the fish. Durable enough to land occasional salmon but light enough to feel weeds or a 10” perch dragging along.
  12. I used a 7 gal bucket on each side of my 19’ CC this year to slow my speed and it dropped my lowest idle speed from 2.6 mph to 2.2. Upgrading to a kicker motor for next year but the buckets allowed me to fish my program for a year without spending money
  13. I was thinking about that but without knowing how thick the outside wall is I am hesitant of cutting even with using a backing plate. I emailed and will try to call Sea Pro customer service to find out if that is an option. If I can end up doing that I can finally mount my downrigger plate where I can wanted to.
  14. I would like to mount the kicker mount to the port side of the transom but have a problem. I would have to through bolt it through 10” of fiberglass. My 6hp kicker weighs only 35# but I am sure lag bolting it would not be sufficient, especially for trailering. Anybody have any experience with a boat like this?
  15. Awesome, thanks for the report. Hoping to get my kicker on the boat this week and try it out this weekend
  16. Awesome I didn’t realize the separator had two outputs. Should be an easy hookup there. The short rigger still has me nervous. I have a winger I may put on the kicker side to run the cable far away from that prop
  17. Ok, that sounds like my original plan plus a couple valves which seems pretty easy to do myself. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Now I just have to figure out where to mount this thing on my transom, not a lot of room with my short boom downriggers. May have to kick one out off the side
  18. So the only primer bulb is ahead of the water separator and you close off the valve to the motor not being used at the brass T?
  19. After the trip was over I was wishing I had tried Shackleton instead but the dark clouds were rolling in and I didn’t want to venture further out from our starting point. Heading down to the Bronx this weekend but will be back at it the following weekend in hopes of a more aggressive bite
  20. I have been given an old but very clean Johnson 6hp kicker motor that I would like to run off of my main fuel line. Both motors use a 50:1 fuel mix and wondering if I can use a “T” fitting to feed both with a primer bulb for each motor?
  21. Awesome great news, running the same program from summer or larger offerings this time of year?
  22. Went out this afternoon and found the same, lots suspended 25-35’ over 40’. I picked up one keeper on a jig before deciding to drop the downriggers and pull crankbaits for a while before heading in with no takes. Work hard for them without much to show but looking forward to it picking up in a couple weeks
