They had rebates on the Yamaha's when I bought mine so I went with F200. If you are fishing Erie or Ontario i would have them replace the 60" shaft with the 72" right now. I have 2 lowrance hds units on my boat. One is mounted on the dash and the other is mounted near the back of the boat, connected by an ethernet cable, so that they can share waypoints and transducers. The front unit is usually on the chart screen for navigation and the rear is on the regular fish finder screen. They both have their own transducer but are set up to run off of the same transducer. The rod with the splice of mono is only so I can use it on an inline. Its backed with 19 strand so that I can run it as a chute rod if I choose to and also serves as a backup to the other rod without the splice. I have two 200' weighted steel setups backed with 19 strand. One of the setups I spliced in a 5' section of 40lb mono in between the steel and 19 strand so that I could clip on an inline board. The other setup is the same minus the mono section which I run down the chute . Both work well and both catch fish. I primarily fish on Erie for eyes and the chute rod works great when the eyes are deep. 2 years ago I ran that chute rod out 450ft on the line counter and was picking up eyes that were down around 70ft. I had my riggers, dipseys and chute rod all in the same zone and they were all firing so I am assuming the steel was at or near the same depth of everything else. The 5' per color sink rate is correct for around 2.0 mph. At 2.5 mph the sink rate is less, around 37 ft deep for 10 color if I remember correctly. Some guys will add a 2oz snap weight on the 5 color to get it deeper with more backing out. I'm sure the 5 color would sink a little deeper with just more backing out but it wont keep the same sink rate as plain lead core and you would just be guessing at what depth it would be running at. Make sure you get a 72" shaft on your trolling motor. Don't even consider the 60" shaft, I have had the 72" come out of the water on occasion. My dealer installed the 60" on the boat and I didn't realize it until I drove back home almost 5 hours away. They mailed me the correct motor and I sent the other back. I have the 18 pitch yamaha reliance series prop on mine. It tops out at 50mph with 2 guys and full tank of gas, hole shot is great. I bought a 17 pitch reliance as a backup and I lose about 3 mph on the top end with that prop and the hole shot is marginally better. The 18 pitch maxes out rpms at wide open throttle and has a great hole shot so that is what I use. The boat should come pre wired for the trolling motor. Smokeless muzzleloader is the way to go. I bought a savage model 10ML II 20 years ago when they first came out. Shoots as good as a rifle with hardly any kick at all. What he said. I doubt you will find a more accurate slug gun once u find out what slugs it likes. Accu tips are another good option for slugs with this gun.
