  1. Reach out to Yankee Troller ,Krenzer Marine , he'll steer you in the right direction with the length and thrust needed to troll at 2.5 with some waves and wind going on . Hopefully the jet boat will work for you , in most cases it's like putting lipstick on a pig ,it's s still a pig . A Yamaha jet boat is not ideal for fishing , will it work., yes. Will it be comfortable and easy to work the stern area , probably not. .
  2. I'm pretty sure the finger piers at Wilson are cement , can't see them being pulled .
  3. I would Google up the car wrappers and talk to them , to see if they know anyone . Or maybe they can do it , has to be a lot easier than a car and its just a matter of ordering the correct wrap material for marine use , if there's even any difference at all .
  4. Aquasport makes a excellent fishing platform.and the hulls are extremely well built . One in Erie , drawback ,single 454 in it .Two in Detroit area , same years with twins in them. One is like 9k and the other 17k , lift kept ,both appear to be in great shape . All 3 are 27' xf models .
  5. 27 Tiara , 1983 , not beat or fished judging from the pictures , 17,500 . Marketplace just below Detroit. No hardtop , but for that money you could have something made up and still be ahead of the game. Probably cost around 1K to transport it back . 25' Pursuit in Erie for 13,900 but it's a I/O , which you'll hate in the long run .
  6. . Oh , to answer your question, none of the above . If we knew your budget and if you were planning on a slip or trailering that would help tremendously. Last thing I would buy would be I/O driven as post above mentioned along with a few other reasons.
  7. Depending on budget I would be looking at a 27 Tiara ,Pursuit, Pro-Line . I've looked at many under 15K Bertram 28's in the Cleveland, Detroit area , usually no trailer , but a beast of a boat for the money. I would stay away from.I/Os for a ton of reasons . Grady Whites , way over rated and over priced , most in your probable price range will need or have had done , transom , stringers or gas tank .
  8. Punch in oil transfer pump on Amazon . They go from 25.00 and up . The cheap ones have a plastic pump . Decent ones have a metal impeller along with the pump being made out of steel etc . The one that caught my eye goes for 79.89 , couldnt see the mfg , but it came in a nice , clearly marked plastic case . I wouldn't bother with the cheap ones , flimsy hoses , noisy , plastic and they usually don't work that well .
  9. Not sure if you're saying they make 4 different ones , if so you need the one with the wire in it , one has it ,one does not . I have no idea what the other 2 styles may be for exhaust hose . Amazon , 4" x 48" -- 224.00 $ . I'm sure if you googled or shopped around you may find it cheaper . Cut the length you need . You will need a heavy duty wire cutter to cut through the wire in the hose . Dish washing detergent straight up is a great lubricant when installing new hoses ,especially the exhaust.
  10. So is it fuel injected or has carburetor's ?
  11. If it has a carburetor ,when you tilt the motor up , some gas may come out of the bowl and drip down the leg ,where it meets the water when you dunk it . If it's fuel injected I would pop the shroud and make sure all fuel line hoses and clamps are good . Raise and lower engine when inspecting . A two stroke will have the sheen when dunking , not a 4 stroke .
  12. This thread is 6 years old , start a new one .
  13. A decade plus two years years later , jeesh ,talk about a old post .
  14. After fighting cancer for many years , it took another young life . He battled it like Ali and kept getting off the mat to throw another punch , it took its toll but he kept fighting it . Unfortunately it just kept coming at him in various forms and stages . Prayers for his young daughter and the rest of his family along with his longtime partner . Carl Martin will be fishing the big skies aboard his baby , Dublin Up , and winning tournaments up there like he did on Lake Ontario . Brings tears to my eyes , fish on Carl !
  15. Start searching Craig's and Marketplace for a used boat with a L6 in it . Probably pick one up for a grand and get a spare outdrive in the process. Loose rod = full rebuild and crank is most likely shot .
  16. Short of going to a local engine rebuilder , MichiganMotorz is your best option , have not heard any negative comments about them .Drawback of local rebuilder , time , this is race season and decent builders are locked in on that crowd of people . I don't think the pricing will be much different between the two as local builder isn't giving any breaks in pricing at this time of the year . Want to fish next week , order from Michigan.
  17. LongLine mentioned Asian Carp , the President recently issued the funds to Michigan I believe,( Governor Gŕetchen Witner ? tried to hide her democratic face from pictures being taken, when her meeting with him for that money ) . The head Michigan DNR or something like that guy was there and said he has been asking for the last 20 years ,including the last 4 , and we're grateful to finally get it . President was funny talking about how he had talked to Corp of Army Engineers and how they eradicated them , how harmful they would be to the fishing and touched on a couple other things. Watched it live.
  18. The 10* is going to be a pounding ride in anything over 2' , it will troll in the ditch better on the other hand . The 15* with the sharper entry will get you a extra foot in wave height . Not as good in the ditch but a couple small trolling bags will settle it down big time . Now 15 * isn't a more desirable 19* , but should work fine with what you're doing. All things being relatively equal I would take the 15* all day long for any big lake .
  19. A Seiche a few years ago made mincemeat of the boom , ice went over the 8' high stone walls on the Canadian side . From the Peace Bridge to the actual Fort Erie about a mile or so up river. And the boom itself loses sections just about every year . So all this ice that got " out " maybe damaged docks ,maybe it didn't .Most of the newer docks are steel pilons , set back or angled a bit with the river flow , which would minimize damage . So Mother Nature can still do what it always did ,Power Authority or no $$ Power Authority. Just isn't consistent enough for any bottom scouring to be effective. Not sure where I read or heard the gripe about that , maybe a Musky meeting from years ago ? Farmers were beefing a few years after it went in . Ever go to downtown Buffalo when its 70* at the airport and 50* on the waterfront in June , wonder how they like there May and June heating bills .Except for Power Authority and some politicians I really haven't seen any positive things written about it .i also believe that the lake formed its own natural boom at the mouth of the river and came apart when nature did it's thing , which could of been scouring up the bottom of the river as well .
  20. Yes more docks have been built , the population grew on Grand Island , more people bought river front property $$ and subsequently put up homes and docks . Has nothing to do with a boom being put in place . Talk to a local farmer if you want to hear about the affect on temps this plays havoc with . No water intakes ( all two of them ) are damaged from ice . They do have one or two small tugs that push ice away from the two intakes on the USA side . The Canadian side uses the Chippewa river to feed there power plant and do not have any issues with water flow .
  21. So what happened to all the riverfront property , docks before the ice boom was installed ? They survived with minimal damage . Lived by the river before and after the boom and saw no damage without the boom . Speaking of damage , what about the farmers who now , thanks to the ice boom , have a shorter growing season due to the boom holding all that ice in the Eastern basin . Yes , it prolongs spring for weeks ,if not longer ,because of the cold air coming off the lake . If your out dodging a ice flow ,maybe use your brain and wait until it is flushed out
  22. No , the ice boom.was put in for one reason $ , follow the money . The Power Authority wanted the water intakes to get minimal amount of ice ,allowing for maximum water flow into the turbines . The Power A comes up with , we wanted to prevent ice damage to the homes / docks on G Island . Problem was , there wasn't a problem with that . And guess what , when they didn't have the ice boom , the large chunks of ice would bottom out on the river bed , cleaning and semi dredging the river bed , which was good for the upper river fish . That's all done now . According to the boom people , 90% of the ice melts before even getting to the boom itself . Not nice to mess with Mother Nature ,,,, IMHO they should of never put that boom in .
  23. One was relevant, the other is as irrelevant as you .
  24. And yet , you bring it up again. In your last post . Apparently someone is living rent free in your dome , get a shot ,maybe it will go away .
  25. So why doesn't NY pay for it out of there own pocket ? They take in hundreds of millions in license fees and taxes on ( fishing) boats , motors , trailers , lodgings , gas and gear etc . Or does all those hundreds of millions go into a slush fund and is distributed to whatever " they " deem worthy ? Horseface has zero clout with the current administration, do you think the Feds would even listen to her if she asked them for MORE relief money because of her screwed up policies . See what the COs have had to put up with because of failed laws . Or maybe the 59 million spent in NYC on hotels for illegals , might have a bearing on the Feds handing this power hungry biotch any more money .
