  1. Then why is it and the other sold boats still on the site?
  2. That is the trouble with this site: it is not well managed. Things (boats, mainly) that have sold should be deleted so we can see current items.
  3. duckduckgo helps block the trackers
  4. I have a Starcraft Fishmaster 196 (19' 9") running 2 riggers and it works good. With the aft deck design it is made for trolling. The boat is very deep and handles waves as good as any other aluminum boat but you have to watch the installation of a kicker. The little motor placed on the port side will cause a slight list but it runs an even keel when planing. My Yamaha kicker control cables were too long, created a pinch point and broke because you have to get that kicker out of the water to run. It could be that the marina where I bought the boat (Bloomsburg, PA) had no experience with a forward control set-up. Also the seat was set too close to the gunwale and every time I turned, the arm rest would hit the kicker control. This boat is so deep that it is a real effort to change the bilge pump or change the water separating filter but it has high gunwales that are wide for mounting equipment. Maybe a big Lund would be better, IF you have that kind of money.
  5. Thank you for the good idea, I would not want to run short of water when I am out fishing. I will use the video on my cell phone and send it to the coast guard. Their station is only a few miles down river. A New York State boaters license will have no effect on "tourists" who show up only in the summer so this might be the way to go.
  6. Good make boat at a good price but a little too far to go. Thanks, anyway.
  7. Still looking for a boat but a 12' instead of a 10', no motor.
  8. I have heard in the near future NYS will require all boat operators to have passed a safe boating course; looks like another way for Albany to put money in their pocket. Anyone who is a member of BoatUS can take this course online for no charge, but there is a fee to get a plastic card showing course completion. The course is easy but is does take a few hours of time as many important subjects are included. What follows is the surprise test: after you pass the BoatUS test there is a NYS test that gives you no study information but is only 10 questions. This must be passed prior to being certified to get the license, but it gives 3 chances to pass the test. Something to do during the winter months, along with getting ready for the spring fishing.
  9. The smaller ones that would be used for walleye are junk. The drag can barely be heard and they tend to lock up when letting line out. The larger ones seem to be much better. It is still hard to beat Diawa reels.
  10. I agree, do NOT give away locations or some first time fishing idiot WILL be there ahead of you! And try not to let other boats see you net a fish or they will be over that spot before you can return to it. I started chartering in 1997 and thought that I had "seen it all" until last year some moron started 80 yards away from me and ran his boat so close to me that his lures actually passed under my bow. And he smiles and waves to me! All I could do not to give him a one finger wave in return. This happened near Pigeon Island so if this was you, I WILL be throwing 2 ounce sinkers at anyone that close to me again. I am the one in the black and red Starcraft 196 Fishmaster.
  11. I would like to see a sticker of the NYS Summer Classic. Those fish of the food chain are really neat!
  12. But again, this was done in HUMAN vision, not fish. I have read the difference might be in the uv area but I cannot find a uv enhancer to apply to a hard lure that will not remove the paint. I have not seen anything related to this subject that went down to 30' or lower where walleyes tend to be in the summer.
  13. Would you sell it without the motor? If so, price?
  14. Looking for a 10' aluminum boat, NO motor or trailer. Henderson or Cape Vincent area.
  15. It is all for the love of money--BIG money. This is their "job" because they do not have enough skills to get a real job so they push themselves on us sport fishermen so they can find some kind of glory. Last year when they were in Clayton I made the mistake of going to the Shurfine market, and what a mistake it was. Bass boats taking up all the parking lot and fuel pumps; good for the store but bad for us customers. These "bassholes" are they maximum of disrespect for a community. They should be sent down to the 1000 Islands Tackle Shop to fuel where they will not be taking up all the parking lot. I guess because they get to be on television, where should be in awe of them--totally wrong!! The just upset me and I am sure that I am not the only one.
  16. Fishing between Carlton Island and the mainland can be rewarding BUT what is with those morons running the big boats through the area? They come down on a smaller boat (20 foot) like they want to push us out of the way and then come so close that if I threw a water bottle I would hit them. Every one I saw then proceeded to run down the shipping channel so why not run the channel AROUND Carlton and avoid Featherbed Shoal? Little known fact: it is against USCG regulations to pass within 100 feet of a vessel that is at rest if your boat is making more than idle speed.
  17. If it makes money for the state, the DEC does NOT listen. Being a local of Cape Vincent I see WAY too many bassholes doing the catch and release starting in May. Where is the DEC then?
