i  own a  sylvan excursion 21  footer  takes a motor  with 20 in ch  shaft harder to  find than 25 inch thinking put  a jack plate and  buy a 25  inch shaft good ore bad idea

 probobly  get a yamaha 225 ore a honda  225  boat is  rated 225 hp

The 20 inch shaft should be easier to find. The 25 inch shafts are often off salt water rigs and will have had more wear.  Jack plates spell trouble.

In my unprofessional opinion, it's not a good idea. I would keep looking for one with a 20" shaft. I think it would be hard to dial in with an extra 5"s of shaft. But to each his own, and I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work, but it's just a lot of extra work and worry when a 20" shaft would have worked when mounted.

Bad idea, way more stress on your transom sir. and your resell value will down the tube.
