I've been slowly restoring an older Alumacraft to fish out of.  Next step is replacing the fuel lines.  I noticed at the end of last season that there is an air leak in the vent hose.  There must have been a leak in the supply line to the motor as the fitting on the top of the tank was loaded up with silicone at some point (you can see where I peeled it off in the one pic as well as how shot the vent hose is).  The vent line goes behind some aluminum panels to get to the vent on the outside of the boat (in the well by the motor, see arrow in second pic).  I know I can remove the aluminum box that I outlined in yellow, but I'm unsure if I will be able to access behind the panels that are have the yellow star on them in the pics.  I don't want to splice the vent line as I'm sure the whole thing is in rough shape.  I just don't know what I'm getting into to be able to access the other end of it where it would attach to the vent on the outside (see arrow in pic with guy holding fish).  Any ideas?

Also, any suggestions on where to buy the replacement lines would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

The replacement fuel lines have special requirements. They are not the automotive type, specially the filler hose. I got mine through the I-boats store, but West marine also has them. And yes, they are expensive but a fire on a boat in the middle of a lake is very expensive.

It is a bit hard for me to explain how to remove and replace that hose with a text, but if you sent me a PM with your phone # I will call you and explain.

Like previously mentioned, use the appropriate hoses. Measure carefully before you cut. better to be long than short. as far as that box goes for the vent line, drill out any rivets you see to disassemble the box. Im sure its encased with foam which you will have to dig out. Then you can access the hose. Another option would be to re-route the hose and install a new vent.

I'm wondering if you can disconnect the vent hose from the tank and then undo the vent on the outside of the box see if the hose can  move back and forth if it's possible to move the hose back and forth I get a male to male plastic nipple longest one I can and join the new hose with the old vent holes see if you can't pull the new holes up through

I already cleaned that up and plan on doing it properly.  Thanks for the advice!
