TWIC ??

Question does every charter captin need the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or just the captain's working on Ontario. I could not find any info if the guys on the Finger Lakes need one. I know things can be different we need a NYS Guide Lic on Keuka Owasco EX. Thanks for the help Sean

In order to renew your capt lic you need to have one period, dont know about guides lic. The reason you need it for your capt lic is to streamline the fingerprinting for the USCG.

All U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Charter Captians must have a T.W.I.C. card before they can operate.Those caught this year without the T.W.I.C. card will be fined and will loose their Merchant Marine Officers License.You also can't renew your License without getting the T.W.I.C. card first.

If you watch closely what is going on in Minnisota on waters that you would have to take a canoe to get into those waters comming from sea,they are making a large number of guides get the U.S. Coast Guard License.Rummers I hear that those Homeland Security Controled Lakes will include many Lakes of size in multiple states in the near future.Those Lakes are listed on U.S. Coast Guard District Navigatable Lists,they include Finger Lakes and Chautauqua Lake.So in the near future those Guides may have to get a U.S. Coast Guard License and T.W.I.C. card as well.

Guides On the Finger Lakes need a Coast Guard Lic all ready, so we also need the TWIC card. And we also need a NYS Guides Lic, and a Public Vessel Operators Permit. Which includes giving money to NYS Office of parks, and putting a big black PV sticker on your boat for the Park police. The last two items NYS Guide Lic and PV, I dont think are even needed by Captains on Ontario? What is the deal with that? I didn't even know about the PV permit untill I got blew in by some one this winter. I have all off the above, but it seams like over kill. Sean
