2010 Niagara Musky Assoc.Inc. Northern Pike Tournament

Cost:$10 per entrant

Date: Sunday May 16th, 2010

Start Time: 7:00 am

End Time:2:00 pm

"Weigh-In" 2:15 PM,Sheridan Boat Launch

Ater Tournament Fish Fry: 2:30 PM,featuring Fried Fish,Burgers,Hotdogs & Sausages. We will"Pass The Hat" to cover expenes. Bring your own drinks.

This is presented as an experimental tournament. Depending on the impacts of the event it may or may not be repeated. The impacts of concern are specifically related to impacts on musky.The following exceptions for partipitation are factors that will help us decide if we should repeat the event in future years.

EXPECTATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION:

1. No event participant shall target muskies in any way, shape or form.

2.Any and all musky incidentally caught must be reported (this will help us decide if this event has too significant of an impact on the musky fishery to be repeated)

3. Any musky caught must be water released(no pictures, no measurements, no weighing)as quickly as possible,with hooks removed.

4. Lure size limits must be followed

5. All baits must have attached a steel leader

6. Fishing in known musky only areas is prohibited

7. Absolutely no trolling

8. Absolutely no musky rods, reels or lures may be used

OFFICAL RULES:

1. All items listed as Expectations for Participation (above)

2. Only live bait and artifical lures under 6" in length may be used

3. Only artifical flies under 7" in length may be used

4. Tournament limited to the Upper Niagara River(Harbor Off Limits)

5. Entrants must be members of the Niagara Musky Assoc. or join the NMA and pay yearly dues along with the entry fee to Tourney

6.The entry fee is Ten Dollars($10.00) per angler with a maximum of four anglers per boat.Entry fees for a non-member must include their membership dues of $20.00. All entry fees must be paid in full before entry deadline.

7. Deadline for all entries will be Thursday, May 13th, 9 PM or as otherwise determined by Tournament Director Nolan Curtis.

8. One-Day-Tournament. Tournament will start on Sunday,May 16th, 7 AM and will end at 2 PM. All Northern Pike must be registered with the Tournament Director or his reprosentative no later then 2:15 PM. Representatives will be present at the Town of Tonawanda Boat Launch at the foot of Sheridan Drive fro 2 PM to 2:15 PM to collect entries. Delivery of winning prizes will be made after the "Weigh-in" the day of the event.

9. All boats must meet U.S.C.G. safety requirements.

10. All entries will be measured from tip of snout to tip of tail while fish is lying in a horizontal position and using NMA measuring devise. Measure to nearest one half inch (round down).

11. Prize structure for tournament:Total entry fees,minus expenes,will consitute prize money.

Prize Money to be allocated as follows:

1st Place------50%

2nd Place------30%

3rd Place-------20%

In the event of ties,prize money for 1st & 2nd will be added together and divided evenly.Same applies or 2nd & 3rd. In the event of a three-way-tie, all three places will be added together and dvided evenly. If less then 3 fish are caught,prize money will be allocated as follows: if only one fish is caught,the winner will recieve 100%. If two fish are caught,then 1st place will recive 60% and 2nd place 40%

12. Contest will be suspended anytime in which the National Weather Service issues a Small Craft Advisory for the Upper Niagara River.

13. All entrants must be properly licensed and abide by State,Federal, and Provinincal angling regulations.
