Sherrif: No unnecessary boating in Cayuga County

Auburn, NY -- Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould ordered today that there be no unnecessary boating in the county because of extremely high water levels.

The high levels of water have made boating dangerous and wakes could cause damage to property along waterways, Gould said.

It was no more dangerous than boating on the south end of the lake when all the pleasure boats are out. We did not go over 5mph all day in respect of property owners on the lake . Mother nature was making much bigger waves than we were.

'aint that the truth'... With the winds in the forcast, boating or not, damage is unavoidable.

I don't know about the enforcement but I don't think insurance will cover you if something happens.
