Basics for Bar area and Pt. Breeze in late June/ early July

Recommended Posts

We are planning an unprecedented 5+ day stay w/ my wife's mom in Lockport at the end of the month or early in July and we will take the Islander out with us. I'm planning to fish where stuff is happening but I need some pointers to get the thinking process rolling, like; 1.) direction to head in for what species, etc 2.) Likely depth range/temp zone to start in 3.) likely speed ranges & some good setup choices. Thank you. -Andy

Too soon to tell where the best bite and for what species between the bar, Olcott, and Pt Breeze. As Spring progresses typically it is better at Olcott or Oak Orchard as the Niagara will start pumping HEAT. Last 2 yrs, late June has been some of the best King fishing out of Olcott. It is hard to imagine the bite being any better than it is right now. They are definitely making up for lost time.

It will be a mix of Spinnys with ATOMIK flies, and spoons like DWs if you are after Salmon. Usually 100-300 fow, but of course that can change.
