SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

====================

I was out yestersday enjoying the great weather but didn't have a great catch day but it was nice to be out. I marked tons of bait between 90-120 fow but couldn't seem to give them what they wanted but did manage one small king on a nbk in 100 fow about 80 feet down. There were lots of fish in the bait schools just few takers, I did manage one screamer for about 20 seconds though. Can't wait to get out and try again, not till next weekend though :( I can't seem to figure out depths with my new wire rods though, I have a chart for using mono with mag dipsys, it said 250ft out for mono should get around 80 feet down but I was dragging bottom with 200 feet of wire out in 100 fow!!!??? There must be a big depth difference. Can anyone help me with this I am using 30lb 7 strand with a 2.5 setting on my divers.

If you turn into the wire it will drop because it isn't pulling as hard. Was the Dipsy still on a 2 1/2 setting when you reeled it in? Maybe the tension screw wasn't set right. I use the Walker Deeper Divers and they are somewhere between 2.5:1 and 3:1

On the fingerlakes there are some steep shelves so the depth finder may reed 100 FOW but the dipsey on the shore side is only in 40 FOW....but I don't think there are any shelves up there in Oswego but I don't know the lake very well up there.
