Picking location on surface temp maps???

when reading the surface temp maps how do you go about picking where to begin your day? Sharp temp drop areas or stable areas in between??? Any input is appreciated.

i alway keep a sharp eye out for brakes, cold water one's in the /summer / fall / but in the spring we look for warm water & warm water brakes. Summer to this time of year down temp is just as importiant & for down temp we like too fish 42 to 54 degree water. but as the season gets closer to the salmon hitting the steams and river's none of this count"s cuz they will come out of temp no matter. hope this helps out alittle.
