How many hooks on a stick bait

I have noticed some people put only one hook on the back of there stick baits. I have always run two taking off the front hook on a three hook stick bait. Is the hook up and landing ratio is better using one hook and what the thought process behind it?

Hook up is better because you can use a bigger hook.  As with hooking and landing kings you will find stock hooks don't hold up.  To balance the bait using only one hook on the rear, you can add additional split rings or cotter pins or trebles with the hook points removed on the front hook locations.

I'm a Lake Erie walleye guy.

I take the front treble off my renosky's and they wiggle better, but I really do it because rarely do you catch a walleye on the front hook. Plus you have 3 more barbs to get caught in your net. I

keep the middle treble because sometimes you want to add a piece of night crawler and if you put it on the back hook it destroys the wiggle action.
