Dipsy Slider

How much line can I have between the slider and the spin doctor before I loose the action on the fly? Also would I be better off using a smart fish inplace of the SD and at what setting?

You can test this beside the boat as you set your slide diver in. You can also simulate this by running a flasher/fly off a ball just under the surface and watching the action as you increase the set back.

Do many guys run flasher/flies off slide divers? I run spoons off mine and put the flashers/flies on regualar dipsies. Not faulting you Shade, just asking for input.

Maybe I am not clear on my question.

How long a leader can you have between the dipsy and spin doctor before the spin doctor does not perform, 10ft, 15ft. Right now I run 5-6' leaders between my dipsy and spin doctor. With a slider I can run the dipsy farther back and still land the fish because the slider will slide down the line. How far is to far?

One the label on the package, it has reccomended lenghts for each application. I believe the furthest back they recommend is 25'.
