    OK but does anyone have concerns about the release fraying the line, be it mono or braid? I use the Scotty release and understood that one should always wrap their line with rubber bands to prevent this. Hearing from others on this would be really interesting. Or is this overkill on my part!

    Everyone thinks longer is better and sometimes that's the case. Shorter leaders give your presentation a tighter roll and kick and there are days where short leaders off your divers get smoked. Generally speaking a 10-12' leader is a good place to start.

    Bearhunter, I am not responding to the boat because it's sold however it looks like you have the oceans south rocket launcher and it looks like you had your planer reels on that.     Yeah, Roger, when I’m fishing alone, I run short lead, but I’ve watched some videos guys are running really long leads from the Dipsy, and they need to hand line it into the net ?
