  7. Thanks for the info guys I appreciate it
  8. When I was boarded last spring on the niagara river that was one of the first things they looked for was to see if I had flares and if they were expired so it's worth the $ to have up to date flares they asked for everything that was supposed to be legal on the boat.I was glad that I had everything. They were looking at everything the throw cushion, life jackets you name it they looked. So it's worth it's weight in glod in my books
  9. Jim, What awg wire are you running to the fuse box from the batterys and then from the fuse box to the riggers?
  10. Are you guys running your riggers off of these also?
  11. Are you sure it's a 24 v motor? and did you check for 24 volts at the right post? I read your first post it said p to p and n to n that hook up is parallel not series. Series is like this put the 2 battery next to each other line the 2 up in this order + pots on the left side looking at the battery the - post on your right slide the 2nd battery up against the 1st battery with the + post of the 2nd battery against the 1st batteries - post. Then run a wire from the - post of the first battery to the + post of the 2nd battery Bam you have 2 battery in series 24 volts now run the trolling motor + lead to the + post of battery # one then hook the - lead of the trolling motor to the - post of battery 2 and you should be good to go put a volt meter across the same post I told you to put the trolling motor leads on and it should be 24 volts like Hank said if you are getting a short in the wiring or the motor is frozen you might get sparks If you stored the motor outside this winter you could have gotten water in the motor and cracked some thing inside or shorted out the motor I would first check if you have 24 volts a short good luck
  12. Are you talking about the trolling motor or the batterys? I always hook up the neg first then the post if it's just the battery I would do it the same way neg first then pos
  13. What do you mean sparks? when you hook up from - to + ? you might get a little spark. Make sure that the neg term is not grounded when you make the connection from - to + connect ( when first hooking up the 2 batterys in series like the first picture top wire in the diagram that hank gave you)make sure nothing else is hooked up then take a volt meter from the + post on one battery and then the - post on the other battery it should read 24 volts then you should be good to go Also make sure you put a fuse in line on the + side of the trolling motor so if it shorts out you won't fry anything I have a 40 amp circuit breaker I bought from Minn kota that I use for my fuse so I just push a button to reset it. Good luck
  14. Looks great.Best of luck this year with it
  15. I bought mine from Jeff at Fish 307 and it was a 300 foot spool coated wire
