  1. Our last charter was Friday May 17th, so it's been a while. We're very appreciative of the Lake Ontario Salmon fishery that made us look good! What rust? 😁 Floyd and his crew drove in from South Western PA to fish with us today. It was touch and go yesterday afternoon because they thought they may melt in the rain that was expected during their trip, but we assured them everything would be just fine. The fishing was complete mayhem, as expected, but these Walleye anglers did quite well. We caught a lot, we lost a lot, and we selectively harvested some nice fish. Pics below.
  2. We filmed a ton of content with the crew from FishUSA today, and I'm really looking forward to that footage! We haven't fished the Oak in three weeks, but it's like time stood still. Excellent bite, and some dandy fish. Check out this Steelie we successfully released that tipped the scale at 13lbs. Pics below.
  3. What are your thoughts on the DEC milking jacks "because their sperm is more potent?" I understand that on low water years you take what you get, but we haven't experienced that scenario in quite a while.
  4. Modern time means if they brought the 70's, 80's, and early 90's numbers back todays numbers are a fraction. That being said some of best big fish seasons were at the tail end of the 90's and early 2000's.
  5. Only a dozen years ago teams averaged 25.5lb Salmon to win a North shore event. I remember tossing back 22/23lb fish that day becasue they wouldn't help our box. 10th place had a 23.5lb average! Fast forward to today and it's taking 15-18lb averages to win Salmon tourneys. According to everyone's social media the fishing we're experiencing is awesome. Me, however, I'd just like the opportunity to get spooled again. Oh ya, check out that margin of victory from 1st-3rd, and check out the all-star team we brought over. We were .22 ounces away from a $25,000 check!
  6. Handhelds don't seem to get the distance that a fixed mount with an antenna get. When I cross the lake I now bring my ACR personal locator beacon. They are small and use satellites no notify rescue.
  7. 1st update the software like you're doing. Next, do a factory restart.

  9. Remember those EXCLUSIVE one-time run of DW UV Alewife spoons from FishUSA over the Winter? Well, they had such an insane amount of calls to bring them back they re-loaded, and they are live on the site RIGHT NOW at this link ----> https://alnk.to/7qk44E5
  10. Most likely it was weighted steel. Much more user friendly than traditional copper, but it does not have the dive curve you get with copper. You should also look into the tinned coppers like Morgan's Tackle offers, which is a little bit more user friendly. FishUSA will soon have this in stock.
  11. Hope everyone is looking forward to the event this weekend. Everything will take place on the Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina property at the pavilion. They are planning on selling pulled pork with salt potatoes during the weigh in's, so please support them. There are no observers at this event. The $400 fee held back for polygraphing (last year) will be added to the prize structure this year. Teams can leave from Oak Orchard or Eagle Creek for the main event. Teams can fish down on Friday from other ports. PRO Entry - $500 AM Entry - $250 Thursday: 6:00pm Brackets Meeting - Roy Letcher is running these again and will be on the Boone & Crocket cafe deck at 6pm. There will be $100 & $250 brackets Friday: King of the Oak (biggest 3 fish) - you can register at Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina up until 7am on Friday morning. 3:00pm Weigh in line closes at the Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina 4:00pm Captains meeting at the Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina Saturday: 5:00am Hand in disclaimers 5:30am Shotgun Start 3:30pm Weigh in line closes at the Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina Sunday: 5:00am Hand in disclaimers 5:30am Shotgun Start 3:30pm Weigh in line closes at the Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina
  12. There is bait on the South shore all season, and we can't touch their leaderboards (which zero out every week) with a month long derby. It's not that the big ones are hanging with the bait. I wouldn't give Lake Michigan all the hype. They have seen some large specimens in recent years, but if you watch tournament videos Lake Trout play a big role in their catches still. Talking to those guys over there they'd kill for what we have right now.
  13. I'm pretty sur they do Glenn, and it's showed an increase in 2yr old's maturing over the years. What I can't wrap my head around......the fact they see no problem taking sperm from jacks at the hatchery "becasue it's sperm is more potent." No sh*t! Have you seen the MTV show teen mom . If you're concerned with impotent fish then take a little extra in the Fall to insure you meet quotas at stocking. However, the easy way out is to use a freak of nature. What do I know besides data showing shrinking salmon sizes year after year. Lets try to understand why the North shore gets the biggest fish in the lake year in and year out (proven by derby data). They have the best streams for natural reproduction on the lake, and that's proven without a doubt since most of these places HAVE NEVER BEEN STOCKED. Do you think a jack is gonna get to spawn with a 25-30lb female? Heck no! How about we start there?
  14. Well, the bait level studies have the last two years were good enough for the DEC to increase stocking numbers of Chinooks, so I don't see how they could say that. You talk to the biologist and they see better numbers out there than they have for a few years.
  15. 7 days of tourney guys looking for a fish 20lbs or bigger, and there were 2 winners from 7 days of fishing. Every day was a fishable day with no wind to keep people off the water.
  16. It works great for marking suspended bait. You can expect 200-300' off each side on 455khz.
  17. I have a raw aluminum plate designed for this at Krezner Marine. They were made specifically for Cannon downriggers to go in-between the base and swivel base.
  18. Just goes to show you what people really want to fish for, and what species brings in the money. Everything else takes a back seat!
  19. Saturday Morning: Saturday Afternoon: Sunday Morning:
  20. I'll be there. Stop by the boat at the boathouse.
