Yes, but that crew decided to ignore the sea conditons.I use an older 18 ft'r that isn't made anymore so I can't recomend you buy one of them. However I've seen some real nice looking Lunds in that size range. If you're going to haul it & fish in so many different conditions, you'll be hard pressed to find anything better than the 18-19 ft "tin can." Definitely look for the high gunnels on anything for the Big-O. Tom B. (LongLine)

State of the Lake and Wind Turbines
LongLine replied to Just Fishin''s topic in Open Lake Discussion
Chris, NYPA has claimed to have received 5 proposals that they are comptemplating. They are not releasing any details even though they have received "Freedom of Information" requests. They claim releasing anything will jeopardize their negotitations. They orginally promised public release of info during beginning of 2011. (Which obviously has passed) NYPA hired TWS-Truewind to do a feasibility study a couple years ago and this formed a basis for their RFPs (Request for Proposals). No Environmental Impact Studies have been filed with the state as of yet. Their contact with DEC has been generally to find out what topics would require study. Some are spawning grounds, fish habitat and exclusion zones. Tom B. (LongLine) -

Happy Birthday EJ. Tom B. (LongLine) -
I use the uni-trolls on my boat. Haven't had any problems. (knock on wood) suggest you don't trailer your boat with the weight attached. (I take mine off & wouldn't trailer any boat with any rigg'r with weight attached.) You might want to also look at swivel bases. I also run blacks right on the cable. Tom B. (LongLine)

State of the Lake and Wind Turbines
LongLine replied to Just Fishin''s topic in Open Lake Discussion
No formal mention of the turbines but the NYPA has contacted DEC about them. DEC has informed them of topics of concern such as effects on habitat, spawning grounds etc. There have been no Environmental Impact Studies filed as of yet. Tom B. (LongLine) -
It's truely amazing how powerful water can be. People complain about conditions in NY - snow, economy & whatever, but seeing these thing makes me grateful, as what we experience isn't anything like what other parts of the country/world have to endure. Tom B. (LongLine)

Welcome Jeremy. Plenty of shore sites around here. Try the River mouth, (Summerville side warms up before the Charlotte side but you need a long handle net) Irondequoit outlet, Webster Park. Tom B. (LongLine)

That’s true, however when he/she changes his mind and breaks or “rewords†his promises, I don’t get a chance to “re-vote†or change my vote. I also don’t get that opportunity when he appoints that “jerk†running the public authority or “chairman†who actually sets up the rules/codes or decides how much budget his dept could waste on which projects. I don’t get a say on which “feasibility†studies that these depts will spend millions on. Same thing New York State has been doing. Unfortunately it always falls on the little guy’s shoulders to pay for the damage that these guys have done, after the fact. Tom B. (LongLine)

I must have amnesia - I don't remember getting a vote on NAFTA nor a voice on setting the pay levels or pension policies. In fact I don't remember being allowed into the room with the closed door where most of the state/Fed policies & purchases that I have to help pay for were decided upon. Tom B. (LongLine)

I run a Sub-T. Blowback with 150Lb isn't bad. However the 210Lb has wicked blowback. Tom B. (LongLine)

Unfortunately the "use less" notion doesn't help much as they raise prices in order to maintain their margins/profitability. Investors don't care about the number of gallons, kilowatts, seats or units sold. They only care about the $ brought in. Tom B. (LongLine)

US gets the majority of it's petroleum from Canada. Only a few % from middle east. WTF? Media thinks we're as stupid as the gov't does? Libya was in North Africa last time I looked - NOT the Middle East. Unless they moved it in the last 40 years Tom B. (LongLine)

Ditto Vince. The more guys that show up, the better for the fishery. I've attended for quite a few years and these DEC guys are very willing to talk to the fishermen. Charters & Rec's. Tom B. (LongLine)

Jimski The Ontario gov't had a little over 1500 applications. 1300 were accepted. Of those accepted, only one was for off-shore. ALL applications have been halted. See sticky. Tom B. (LongLine)
