    Perch

    OK, here's some perch....
  2. photo #1, Install a round deck hatch on the vertical wall under the white padded area, maybe 4" diameter... enough to get your hand and a backer plate in for mounting. something like this..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Viking-Marine-boat-4-round-access-Hatch-cover-Screw-out-Deck-plate-White-/301295627418?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item46269e6c9a&vxp=mtr
  3. I use PVC for my big board mast. I used heavy wall with a 1 1/2" inside diameter, and pounded a 1 1/2" diameter wooden pole the entire length inside. It's worked well for a number of years now.
  4. Owner found, tackle is in the marina office waiting for pickup.
  5. Just bought a pair of Caddis waders from Amazon....... you will be under your $200 budget for sure
  6. If you fished out of Braddocks Bay Tuesday evening, Sept. 23, or Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, and left your tackle at the boat ramp, Call Me. It was on the dock when we put in and still there when we pulled out Wednesday morning. No one was around, so I left a note on the office door with my number, and kept the item hoping the owner is a member of LOU. I live 5 minutes from the marina, and will see you get your stuff back. Call Jim 585-392-5092
  7. Tim is correct on the Magnum SD depths. I run a 20ft. leader of 30 lb. test mono ahead of my wire and run Slide Divers. You can change out the standard and magnum weights in less than a minute using the screw on the bottom center of the diver.... no need to remove it from the line.... also lets me reel the diver and flasher right up to the rod tip.
  8. The PM feature on this website is your friend. Over the years I have voiced my opinions and shared information with a private message...... keeps the $hit storms to a minimum..

  10. Fished out of Braddocks this morning 8 to 11 AM. Temps were all over the place, fished 70 to 130 FOW, Bait and fish on the screen all morning. I have never seen so much bait in one area as I did today. It was never ending... Popped the 66 rigger once, big fish, pulled 400 ft. off the reel, then dropped the hooks..... first time I've lost a fish on a tournament tie hook arrangement. Fish hit a green and white Evil Eye high speed dodger with a home made hammer shushi fly, down temp. was 65 degrees at the ball ,... Counted 12 boats all fishing the same area in front of Braddocks, didn't see a rod or net move on any other boat. Gave a shout out to Whaler1 on the vhf, Things seem to be slow out of Sandy too. Best part of the morning was the look on the newbee's face as he stood there helpless as our big fish ripped off 400 ft. in the first run... ill try again Monday Morning. Jim
  11. Realguy, PM me your email address and i will send diver info. directly to you. Jim
  12. I still have a copy of my old post and can also forward it all who would like a copy. PM your email address. Jim S.
  13. BrokeOff, I run on every setting except 0, and I do use the spring. I will tell you the mag diver weights on a low setting dig in at a steep angle, but I don't see the wear prodlems you do........ ( running out to boat.... checking mag diver rings before clicking on the post button..... rings look good....... click Post button now...)
  14. My brain must be wired differently........ i would have already sent the pics to U Charters, the people who make Slide Divers and got an answer from them. ...As a side note, Ive been running wire Slide Divers, with a 15' mono leader for years and have never seen this, even running the new 7oz. magnum weight kits.
  15. You may want to call the people at Taylor Made.... they produced the original equiptment tops and side curtains for most major boat builders, including Starcraft. They may have what you are looking for in inventory, as they still stock replacement parts for most popular models. Here's a link you can check out.. http://www.taylormadegroup.com/AFS/index.html
  16. I would venture a guess..... as you crank up the downrigger ball, the cable and release are spinning, causing the line to wrap around the cable. I also use Blacks releases, and have never had that problem. Are your releases free to spin on the cable, or do you have them crimped on in some way or pinned to the cable so they are static? My releases spin free around the cable. I always break my lures free before bringing the rigger ball up.... put the rod back in the holder and let the lure flutter its way up to the surface.... you'll be suprised how many hits you will get as the lure "fishes its way" back to the surface.
  17. My largest king ever came on a clean Rhys Davis meat head.
  18. I print out all the info I need and tape it to the underside of a hatch lid at the stern. You can see my charts on the open hatch lid on the left side.
  19. I've had Traxstech products on my boat for approx. 8 seasons.. no problems..
  20. Tom, I should have posted about my Friday afternoon trip out of Braddocks, you could have done a copy / paste and saved some time typing...... many, many bait pods and fish in the 60 - 100 ft. range, good temps, and fished the same surface breaks you saw..... changed up lures, speed, depth a bunch of times, 2 short strikes on cheaters and a skippy king so small, he never released the wire diver. Seems like a slow weekend for most boats in the Rocheater area.
  21. Looking for clear Rhys Davis Large Teaser heads in the Rochester area...... has anyone seen them at the local tackle shops?? I hate to do mail order for such a small dollar item.. Thanks, Jim
  22. I've ordered from them a few times.... never a problem
  23. Been stacking, sliding, and cheating since 1991.....
  24. I use swim noodles, but cut slots around them about 3/4" deep with a utility knife..... bury the snaps and swivels down in the slots to avoid tangles.
  25. Once the thermocline sets up, My 3 rod "search mode" still includes the old school rubber squid. Low rigger with Evil Eye high speed dodger / squid with a fixed cheater above, ( spoon or Apex ) wire diver with flasher / fly high rigger with spoon or Apex and a fixed cheater above. This gets 5 different baits in the strike zone using 3 rods. Once the fish tell me what they want - or don't want, I change up the offerings. Just my $.02
