  13. I stack 2 rods on one rigger a lot, use Scotty Downriggers with auto stop beads, I'll explain my set up, maybe it will give you a few ideas. My auto stop bead is placed on the rigger cable 10 feet above the rigger weight, Blacks release at the bottom with weight clip, a second Blacks stacker release slides free on the cable between the ball and auto stop bead. I have a 2ft. piece of planer board line tied to the rigger boom with a loop the size of my hand on the hanging end. Setting the rigger: With the weight out of the water, close the stacker release on the loop hanging from the line on the boom. This allows you to set the bottom rod and lower it leaving the stacker release hanging within easy reach. Set the bottom rod and lower the rigger slowly, the rigger cable will slide through the stacker release as it hangs from the rigger boom. Stop before the auto stop bead hits the stacker release. Set the top rod, loosten the reel drags a bit and lower the rigger. The load on the rod and the water pressure will pull the stacker release up against the bottom of the stop bead and hold it there. Once the stacker release is tripped, it will slide down the cable to the ball. I always know the lures are exactly 10 feet apart. Move the stop bead if you want more distance between rods. Same set upon the probe rigger with coated cable. The rigger weight is stopped 10 ft. below the surface, no banging around in the waves until I finnish raising manually. I've been stacking rods like this for a few years now and it works very well once you get the hang of things. Just my $0.02
  14. I picked up all 3 of my fish Monday morning fishing solo on fixed cheaters. Rarely, if ever, do I get the cheater and main line tangled. When i want to change baits I trip the rigger release and put the rod back in the holder until both spoons reach the surface, then reel them in SLOWLY with the rod tip high. I have found that a small piece of latex surgical tubing on a coast lock snap makes for a fantastic fixed cheater. It holds the cheated lure in place but will still slide down the line after the hook up.
  15. Thanks for the tip Capt. Matt, I check lines more often until the fleas die off. Jim S.
  16. Nice sunrise this morning as I cleared the channel markers out of Bradocks. Dead calm water and overcast... a big plus as I expected things to get very hot and humid quiclkly today. Only had a few hours to play, so I set up inside and worked 80 to 140 in front of the bay... after the NE winds Sunday, some cooler water moved inshore. Ran 2 riggers cheated, and a wire diver. Ended up with 2 steelhead and a king, all around 5 pounds, and all on a Stingray NBK cheated around 40 down. One rip on the wire, white Pro Troll with a home made "hammer" fly out 160' ao a #2 set. Fish and bait on the screen all morning, changed baits up a number of times, as I had to pull lines every half hour anyway to clear fleas. Nice moring to get out... Best thing about a flat lake and fishing solo.... my little tin boat can fly !! I also met Tom B. ( LongLine ) from this board Saturday morning. After reading so many of his posts over the years ( and stealing his sunrise photos for my desk top ) It was nice to put a face with a name. I hope we meet up again some time.
