  1. I have both Malin 7 strand and Torpedo Diver 19 Strand (2 setups of each) and like both of them. I've been using Malin for at least 12 or 13 years now. The current Malin rods are at least 5 seasons of use since I last replaced it and no problems at all. Don't have a lot of time on the TD wire rods yet but no complaints either. I haven't tried the Blood Run Wire yet, but I like their copper and other lines, so I'm sure it is very good as well. Tim
  2. I don't believe they fin clip any browns that are stocked in Lake Ontario. The adipose clip was part of a study on kings, but other than Skamania Strain Steelhead and lake trout, I don't think they are clipping any salmonids in Lady O. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I have 2,3,5 and 10 color cores. The 2 and 3 colors with red mini dodgers or 5" spin doctors and penut flies behind them are absolutely deadly for spring coho. 5 and 10 have more versatility during the remainder of the season. The 5 color is killer on summer browns. Tim
  4. Same deal with LOTSA. We have a Boat US Cooperating Group discount for club members. 50% off the BOAT US membership, but not the towing add ons, unfortunately.
  5. Boat Us Membership is different than Boat US Boat Insurance.
  6. I can tell you that Boat US is great to work and deal with if you ever need to file a claim. I had a Boat US Yacht Policy on my Thompson.

  8. Ok perhaps my Simrad was a different setup. It replaced the existing helm in its entirety and is a rotary drive, so the R&P cable wouldn't work. I'm not familiar with the Raymarine. The old Ray Sportpilot + that I had before that just slid over the steering shaft of the existing helm. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I'm leaning towards this one. http://adventuremarine.ca/boat-accessories/9-high-thrust-outboard-motor-bracket.html I want a fixed mount with a a good setback so I can easily tilt the motor for running and these are pricey, but look bulletproof. A friend (Big Easy here on LOU) has this on his Seacraft and it looks awesome Tim
  10. I'm betting the helm of the EV-100 is rotary, so a rack and pinion steering cable won't work. That was the case with my Simrad AP14, had to replace the R&P cable with a rotary one when I installed my AP and while not super difficult, replacing the steering cable was the biggest PITA of the entire install. Tim
  11. The stock hooks on the 28s was a 1/0 of whatever brand NK used. Before NK went away they used to get a couple tables at our LOTSA Expo every year and they sold packs of replacement hooks and that's what they were. Tim
  12. The original accudepth reels were junk. Their replacement accudepth plus have great drags, I don't notice any difference between them and my 47LCA's. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. It's actually NOT true. My understanding is that you can't ask for it, but if it's offered as a means of sharing real actual expenses, it's not illegal.
  14. Saw them at the Niagara Show. Look very interesting, I'll probably be picking a couple up to try.
  15. Your welcome, glad to help. Your mileage may vary. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Just pull the lever Les
  17. Sorry I was specifically referring to my boat. I usually run both until flea season makes the braids problematic, and the wires just fire a lot more for me. 30 Lb Malin wire vs 50 Lb Power Pro. The Braids DO catch fish, just not nearly as many for me as the wires and for whatever reason, I seem to get a lot more hit and runs on the braid divers, seldom ever get a wire bite that doesn't hook up solid. Tim
  18. All I know is, running side by side, my wire divers get bit 3:1 over my braid divers. Tim
  19. Don't know about manual ones, but I have been running Scottys since 2003 and they have been flawless, I had far more problems with cable stacking on my old Cannons.
  20. Steve, It's smaller scale, but the DEC has done this the past couple years for our LOTSA Club Tournament in July
  21. The gear on my boat is worth far, FAR more than the boat is.
