  1. the only thing I would do different from what you do is target lakers on the bottom during a cold front. I don't think there is any magic set up for cold fronts just put in your time and stay around fish.
  2. I just bought a snow blower and it says " max 10% ethanol" I quess in a year or 2 we will see how it runs. E15 makes no sense. Everybody gets sucked.
  3. I bleed orange. I'm a big football, basketball and Lacrosse fan. This years basketball team has been getting better every game. They are definately team players.
  4. Tim, I have the same problem from time to time with my Garmin.
  5. we can jig lakers all winter through the ice, but i perfer jigging perch. the hardest part about jigging from a boat in the winter is the wind. it will probably be hard to keep your line vertical.
  6. i hope you went after merc for the 1900. the motor is only 1 year old!
  7. shakenbake, how do you like that 958? Its on my short list for a ff.
  8. I have caught a lot of smallmouth on traps and was thinking about that. The area in front of his dock is very weedy but he could use them before the weeds are up high for the largemouths and pickerel. Anyone else have any suggestions.
  9. I am sure some of you are bass fisherman. My father in law is not much for fishing but from time to time he wants to cast off his dock at Little York Lake. His tackle box was stolen out of his boat house this past summer. I am going to hook him up with some weedless bass lures for Christmas. So far I have bought him so prop baits, jitter bugs, spinner baits, seikos, asst plastic worms, hooks 3/0 and weedless 3/0 for wacky style. Asst sinkers and bait hooks. What else should I get him. Like I said his fishing experience is very limited.
  10. i used to use the same rig but switched to something that works better for me. I still put the sinker on the bottom but about a foot and a half up i tie a 2 foot section of line and tie my hook on that line. For me that works much better. On the finger lakes i put a 3 inch minnow on it and it produces big perch. For my jigging rod, i start with 1 of 3 colors. White, chartuese or pumpkin w/red flecks. I use 2 inch jigs. The pumpkin has been very good this year but oneida is much darker water than the finger lakes.
  11. i usually buy my flies in 6 packs. my standard length is 21". if i want to change i tie another one at say 24". once the new one is tied i pull the old one and change it. that works for me. use only 40 -50 test mono or floro, you want your fly to "swim", braided line is not stiff enough. that is just my opinion.
  12. andy, I hope all turns out well. Keep us posted on his progress. i'll be praying for elliot's quick recovery.
  13. The floor will drain better if you take some of the weight out of the front of your boat!!!LOL
  14. I have cannons on my boat but my next set will be scotty's. I fish on Glens Boat (spoonfed) and he has scotty's. One day we were fishing west of the Niagara Bar and plastic bag came up the rigger line and covered the bead so the rigger did not stop. It was my fault I should have pushed the button to stop the rigger. Well Glen gets on the radio and asked Janz if he had spare parts or does he know where to get them. He says no. About 5 seconds later a Scotty employee (Ivan)calls Glen over the radio and asks what he needs. He said where he was on the water and that he would float the parts over to us. Hows that for customer service.
  15. It was good fishing with you glen. I still can't believe that @&%!% jerk had his boards out that far cutting across the pack. I wasn't going to let that board take your wire rod. There must have been 300 boats fishing a 1 mile area. The reason we got skunked sunday is because kelly wasn't on board. I think we are coming up sunday if the winds are ok.
  16. My favorite Brown Trout spoon would be a Michigan Stinger RSH1- It is silver with a black edge.
  17. hey perch predator, do you remember where i told you the perch were last year? they should be showing up within the next week or so.
  18. 2 years ago I bought a 2005 for $18,000. It had 40 hours on it, auto pilot, custom top, custom tow cover in mint shape. Don't get me wrong that boat is nice but he won't get 15k out of it. Maybe 8k.
  19. I have 7ft 1 piece Ugly Stix both medium and light. The mediums work good for spoon rods but are a little light for flashers and flies. The light 7 footers are for browns and walleyes. I would not use them for salmon.
  20. did someone put new wire on your downrigger? If you put more than 150 ft of cable on a cannon mag 10a it will be deeper than the counter reads.
  21. I hope someone finds the mature kings soon. Last year at this time we were smoking them out of port bay. A week ago i looked out to 400ft and nothing. I found it hard to believe that there was no bait out deep. I didn't see any bait from 150 out to 400. 250 - 300 ft was the best area for me. Next time i won't stop at 400 if i can't find them.
  22. i fished cayuga on Sunday and noticed the water was really green like the lake was going to flip. That must be why we did so bad. We only boated about 8 fish in 7 hours of fishing. most were small too.
