  1. I would start with calling Dave first thing in the am, if he ok's your entry, then get the slip and call him back with the info. I have another friend that is doing the same thing tomorrow, he did not realize that the cut off date was today. Can't hurt to try, Good Luck. Rich
  2. They just want to know which marina you will be out of, so they can set the observers up. Rich
  3. One of the reasons is because they want to get all the observers lined up for the meeting, so it does not last into the night. It becomes a hassle to get observers lined up so everyone is out the same marina as their own team. It takes a lot of work from all those on the board. Hope you got in. Rich
  4. LS, Nice target, I heard about that fish via phone call, hmm won't say any names, good thing you put this post up, we would of had some fun. Now get back out there and do it again. Thanks for the report. Rich
  5. Nice job Eric, looks like you had a great weekend. Rich
  6. PY, It is the weekend before Labor Day weekend, around the 23rd area I believe. Rich
  7. Jon's Little Salmon River tackle shop should be open at that time. He is located just east of the road down to the Launch. Depending on where you are coming from, you will go by it coming from Pulaski way or go just past the Mexcio Pt Road if coming from Oswego Way. If I was heading out sat. I would hook up with you and show you my rigs, but other commitments have me off the lake. Good Luck, heard the browns are starting to head back into the bay, and the kings should be up off the plant real soon. Good Luck. Rich
  8. Dick, You want the Spro Heavy Swivel size 3 150lb test. I bought some from ATOMMIK, and I also found some on ebay, but few and far between. Goo dLuck and welcome to the copper family. Rich
  9. GB, I installed 2 fuse blocks on the boat and run all the accessories on them. I have one for the front and one for the back for my riggers. I have the Depth Raider and the VHF along with my gps and FF on the front board, and no problems. If you are going to be up this weekend let me know and if I have a some spare time I will show you. Good Luck. Rich
  10. Dave, If you can swing it, get the the color unit, you will not be dissapointed. The color units show much more detail and they are easier to read, and can be read with polarized glasses on. they are a little more $$$, but well worth it. Rich
  11. Billy and Rod, I would give Jim at BOE a call, he sells large numbers of units each year. He can give you a side by side comparison between units. JMHO, When I am in the market, that is where I will be going. Good Luck, let us know how it goes. Rich
  12. I put a piece of old snubber above the bead, this allows you to crank the swivel to the tip and keep pressure on the wire. Some reels do not have a positive lock on the spool when you crank them up and they will back off a little. I cut about a 2" picece and slide it on the wire then bead and then tie the knot. It is time for the divers to start, bring on the big boys. Good Luck. Rich
  13. Here is a pic of the 2 spoons that fired today. The Gobie is available for purchase, the humpy spoon is a prototype, that if it contiues to fire might go into production next year. Good Luck. Rich
  14. I had the pleasure of fishing with Chris, his brother Mark, who has just returned from Iraq after his third tour, and their father Joe. I meet Chris last year when he brought his friend Matt and Johnny Linde out on the boat for some trout and salmon fishing out of Henderson. Johnny was being deployed in the fall so I made it so that he was up for the first fish. Well Johnny got his biggest fish of his life, a nice slob laker around 14lbs. Well as some of you know Johnny was killed last year in Iraq. I told Chris that I would take him or any of his friends out that were serving our country. He called me a week ago and told me his brother just returned and wondered if I could take his brother and his dad out also. I said no problem, so we made Father's Day our trip. We setup in the area I did a couple of fish the day before, 2 riggers 2 weighted flatlines and a couple of lead cores. I felt Johnny riding with us, Mark was up to bat first, the full core fires off with a sweet 8 lb brown, the smiles have started. Set back up a little while later the 3 color core with weight fires and Joe(dad) is up, and he lands a nice 6lb brown. So now it is Chris's turn, he is telling us he going to get a big smallmouth, lol. Well one of the weighted flatlines fires with a nice fish, after a few minutes he brings a sweet 7.5lb brown to the net. Pressure is off now, 3 in the box, so we just enjoyed the rest of morning. One of the weighted flatlines fires off the board, Mark is up, grabs the rod, 30 seconds later, the other weighted flatline off the other board fires, Chris grabs the rod. We are locked with the first double of the year. Mark gets a nice 6 lber, and Chris lands a colored up 5 lber. We missed one fish off the Flatline, it was a great day. The fish came on a Glow froggy NK, Dirty White boy stinger, and a orange crush Pro King. Lots of bait and fish in the area, sounds like most did well, heard a few kings taken this weekend also. I want to Thank all of our service men and women for protecting our country to allow us to enjoy the life we live. We may think we have it bad sometimes, but it is nothing like what they go through while they are stationed out of this wonderful country. Thanks Mark and Chris. Chris will be deploying to Iraq again this fall, wish you did not have to go buddy, just get back here safe and sound so we can fish again. It was a pleasure to fish with you, your brother and your dad, you guys are welcome any time. Good Luck, get out there and have some fun. Sorry for the long post, but I really appreciate what these guys do. Rich Here are a couple pics from the trip: Mark's first brown of the trip: Here is a pic of the boys with the double: Here is the crew, Chris, Joe, and Mark:
  15. Pat, I have the white/teal 240 thompson docked with the sailboats on the first bend going down river. We passed you right at the launch while your guys were talking to the fish checker. I am parked right next to Empty Hook. Rich
  16. Great report Pat, we passed you in the river when you were coming in. Sure is nice to have the fish active again. Good luck. Rich
  17. Took the kids out for a few hours this morning. After hearing from Ron J on his morning trip we set up in 50'. The first rod to fire was a full core with a Prototype Savant Humpy spoon. Bryn was up to bat first, and put the whoopin to a nice football brown. The fish measured 24" long and had a girth close to 20". After a couple pics it was set free to get bigger. After setting back up, the rigger fires with the Savant Jake Gobie. Dominick takes a nice 7 lb brown, this fish came 30' down over 45'. The last rod to fire was an NBK on a weighted flat line back 150' we lost this fish, but it did have some weight. Lots of bait and fish, there was some nice catches today. I stopped at Jon's and the jake gobie is in stock. Good Luck, will be back out tomorrow, will post report tomorrow night. Enjoy the pics. 18. GB, I saw you go ny our boat on your way out Saturday Pm, looks good, I know how you feel, not happy enough until it shines the way you want it. The bite has been up north, for the most consistant numbers anyways. Not sure what the storm did to the lake, but Monday there was some fish taken off the plant by a few boats. It might be starting, bait is finally starting to move in, it has been a crazy spring. the gobie population as Tom said did increase last year, but we are finding them in the stomachs of all of our game fish, salmon included. I know Jon's has some gobie spoon patterns that you might want to get your hands on. Don't feel bad you are not the only one that is having a slow spring, there are some pros that are not doing good either. It will get better, it has to. Get those riggers mounted, and get back out there. If you go down the river and notice the white/teal Thompson gone from the last marina at the bend, give me a shout on the radio, channel 68 SEADUCKTION. Welcome to the river. Good Luck. There is a lot of great guys out of our river, so the info will be here and also on glangler.com. Rich
  19. Chief, They are set up just like the black's, a few twists and put the loop on the release just like the Black's, except you can adjust the release tension to be just enough to hold your lure with out releasing. You adjust the upper tension just like a Blacks, even has the same knob, the bait end is a bronze knob that can be tightened or loosened to adjust the fish side of the release, once you have it adjusted to your liking, leave it alone, set it up just like a black's. Let me know when you are in town again, and I will try to meet up with you and show you how it works. Good Luck. Rich
  20. Hey chief you should check out the Chamberlain release, that will take care of your problem of towing little guys. You can adjust the release tension from the rod and the lure seperatly. I have had my rod tips touching the water, and had a small BT, 6" release the rod. They are available in Pulaski and at Jon's Little Salmon River tackle shop. I have run Roemers for the past 15 years, and now they are going up for sale. No more Rubber bands for small fish or walleyes for me. Good Luck. Rich
  21. I saw you guys early Sunday am, I was working and saw Pete's new ride from a distance. Congrats on getting blood on the deck. Good Luck next weekend. Rich
  22. Nick, Nice report, glad to hear you found some fish, it is sounding like the june Transition is on. I guess conrats in order for the engagement, why did you keep that info secret? lol Tell Theresa I said congrats, see ya soon, will be out for the ProAm. How is the kicker running? Rich
  23. Ask Mike, I am sure he can set you in the right direction. Good Luck. Rich
  24. Hope to see you there Pat, should be as good or better than last year. Rich
