  1. Dam Big Spoon , that fish looks bigger than a 10 and change.
  2. We did13 fish... I would have guessed this one 12 but it was only 10 and change.Good enough for third. great day on the water . No big LL...
  3. I am looking for a big Atlantic.....Ive had some vicious wire hits this year and the fish never make it to the boat. Fishing out of Meyers this year. Good luck to all. CH 68.
  4. Hope to get signed up this afternoon. No one was there last Sunday. Another rainbow pic.
  5. I think some of it comes from whipping it up in the water to knock the fleas off. Any little kink is to much kink. Ive been running 80lb brad spliced about 10ft up from the diver.I connect it with a 30lb test spro barrel swivel.it seems to help. I also run mason 30lb test. Just lost a rig last weekend on a good fish in the fingerlakes. Started to put some pressure on them then everything went slack. First one in a couple years.
  6. Nice to see a Hughes report. I had a camp there for about 20yrs. Many great fishing experiences. I thought I would throw out a little advise. If the salmon are turning black, circle the wreck.....If I recall its 119FOW..Should be a marker on it.
  7. Just an amazing catch. This is the premier derby on the lake now. Hope it grows.
  8. I did not get in because I do not know what to do with 43lbs of fish........
  9. I got rid of my Blue diamond roller rods last winter. They were good rods for what they were . Never had a problem. They were a bit to much for the fingerlakes. They are heavy and bulky, kids and ladys just dont like them.I replaced them with Talora rods with the twilly tip . Love em, Divers are the first thing out on my boat. If they dont fire in the first 15min its going to be a slow day..
  10. I guess I got to eat some crow. We fished hard both days. Fought fleas got soaked. Saturday we Went north and the bite was fantastic many fish in the 5 to 8lb range. Inc a 6lb rainbow everything we threw back. Sunday my plan was to fish the S end for browns we caught a couple dandys there the week before. Water looked to muddy so we ran up past the boy scout camp and got into the fish again. gold was hot color Saturday silver was hot Sunday. Had a great time . I thanked bear for putting it on. I would not have wanted to top that 14lb brown with a lake trout anyway..
  11. I ran 40lb test ande line clear. Ended up cutting the line slippin em off then retieing.Still not as bad as Owasco was a couple weeks ago. I run mason 7 strand dipsey wire . The rod with silver wire did not collect as many fleas as the brown colored wire.
  12. The couple I left should have been the ones I caught. 14 plus brown leading..
  13. I gave it a day 10-15 yrs ago maybe longer.. 11" rotator, twinkie rig. cut bait. No takers. It may work now , about anything you put down in Cayuga catches fish.. they probably have the herring strips better now. Used to be a pain with the smell and trying to keep it fresh in the boat.. But the big fish hammered it on Ontario. Good luck. Long ago we used to use a rig called Hemlock spinner. You would get what we called a mooneye bait fish. With the bait whole you had a rod you poked down thru the mouth and out the end . A treble hook on the end with a couple spinners in the front. Trolled very slowly near or at the bottom. I dont think Ive ever seen it mentioned on this board.. I may still have a rig or maybe they still make them Im not sure. Perhaps Sk8opedia could chime in on this.
  14. Wait for me by the dock at Deans cove and Ill show you what I catch the big ones on. I might be a little late but the derby doesnt start till noon on Saturday.Lyteline that was the old days now I wear a blindfold. I hear they are biting good at Lou's cove. In all seriousness I hear they are calling for thunderstorms . I hope they are wrong.
  15. Free lure with every book purchase...
  16. What no trash talk? I think Ill wash the car and mow the lawn before I go to give you guys a chance.
  17. TTT With all the quality fish that have been caught ,should be interesting..
  18. Looking for a good used rust free ridgeline, I have cash. If it has a few mechanical issues thats fine if the price is right. No RUST please. Mine is rusting out badly and they pull a boat just fine. I like the way they ride , Thanks PM me
  19. Wow, now there is a fishing boat that is very cool. You dont see many around. If its in good shape it wont last long. Some one from California will probably buy it and bring it back. Good luck with the sale.
  20. Fished both days on the water by 5:30 . We caught around 60 fish all lakers but could not break 8lbs. Even with heavy line 40lb test and wire divers the fleas were terrible. Hung off the hooks like icicles. Constantly cleaning, Just a beautiful lake and its amazing the number and quality of fish there for all the fishing pressure it gets. There is always next year.
  21. All kidding aside that is a really cool picture and catch. Actually that picture should be in a fishing magazine. I would nickname that rig" Mr Ed."
  22. Thanks for the reply. I had a newby in the boat for the Seneca derby and she got discouraged with the slow bite.I hope to get things crankin on Owasco. I keep reading about fleas It just seems early. I am still running 40lb test line fleas wont bother it. I will have two days to try and figure the fish out. Sounds like you need to get something around 9lbs or so for the derby. Good luck with the rest of the FLTA season
  23. The Owasco derby is coming this weekend. FLTA, how the bite was last weekend?
  24. Did you horse it in and say Whoa when you brought it up?
  25. Bstone that area is definitely fish rich waters. Something that is not discussed here much but your boat may be hot. Meaning its putting voltage in the water chasing the fish off. To check it lower a downrigger ball in the water then with a voltmeter go from the battery ground to the downrigger cable. If there is voltage ground your riggers and everything metal in the boat. It really works . I have a fiberglass boat and still run a extra ground wire. My theory Bigger fish = longer lateral line = more sensitive to electricity I can not tell you how many times a rod has gone off when I keyed the radio. Especially on Lake O. Good luck. You could probably find a witch doctor in Ithaca like the guy does on river monsters. They have everything else down there.
