I'm selling 2 8' 6" Diawa Heartland (black rods) rigger rods. I used them one season. I purchased them new around this time last year from HillsValleyandstreams. $40.00 for both. I do not want to ship but I will for $10.00 aditional.

There was nothing wrong with the old format. If it is not broke, why fix it? The Lake Ontario fishing community is shrinking every year. More people fall due to the cost of our great sport. Lake trout fishermen were slapped in the face and bumped out of the fall derby (yes there are some guys that ONLY fish lake trout). Why knock guys out that have been supporting this derby for years? Not good business sense. Where are you going to draw new people from???????

If you do not want crowds, pick smaller port. Ports like the Oak, Niagara ports, Sodus, Oswego get more traffic. Look at smaller ports and you will find smaller crowds.

Lets hear your thoughts on this. I feel that lake trout, browns and steelhead are just important to the derby as salmon. Without the trout, what would we fish for on years when the salmon fishing is bad? Trout should have an equal chance to beat out a salmon in the LOC. If a trout can beat the leading salmon, it shows how we have a World Class fishery for ALL species of trout and salmon in Lake Ontario. Why not promote the ENTIRE fishery not just the salmon fishery? Dave Chilson said in his email to me that I posted early this winter that one of the reasons for taking the lake trout out of the Fall derby was due to the stocking issues and the population being down. There are a lot of trout killed for that $100.00 fish of the day and thrown in someones garden. Why not dump the fish of the day and put the money into the divisions? I will continue to fish all three LOC derbies. I really enjoy the added bonus of going out on the water and having a chance to win some money. If the entry fee went up and the prize structure went up too, I would not care. The $30.00 I spend for each derby is a drop in the bucket of what I spend on tackle every year.

Anyone else get the fish contamination study in the mail yesterday? I got a letter from Suny ESF asking if I would participate in a study to see if they could take blood and urine samples from fishermen that eat fish out of Lake Ontario and various bodies of water in the vacinity of Lake Ontario.

I'm not afraid of the thru hull, I just don't have a spot to drill another hole in the bottom of my boat where it will be accessable if it died and I need to replace it. My engine compartment is so cramped with the washdown seacock, 2 bildge pumps and the actual washdown pump I would have to mount it under the engine. The shoot thru, I could mount right up against the bulk head under the washdown pump and it would be no issue.

You can keep 2 lakers and only one of the two can be in the 25 -30" slot. They do not count twards your 3 of kings, coho, brown or steelhead.

I read that topic. That was about thru hull transducers not shoot thru the hull transducers. I'm talking about transducers that you do not have to drill a hole in the hull. You epoxy the tranducer in the bilge and it shoots through the hull.

I'm upgrading one of my fishfinders and have the option of buying a shoot thru hull transducer. Anyone have any expierence with them? Easy to install?

Live Wire and Hammer Time were my #1 and #2 Spin Doctors for the past couple of seasons.

Good idea Chad. Only issue is they do not smell as strong as Herring.
