  1. king, i have this happen many times over the years , he heard something in his area and struts in ...no tiptoeing you could of grunted him in at light ,unles he busted yer sent,,,,,,,or he was just checkin his terf in the AM..his pattern will not change from that spot . if you could get just on the edge of the woods where he headed off to,and the wind is right you can call him in tomorrow,,but he is agressive and will only give you a few second shooting situation so be quiet and ready after the quiet "walkin grunt call"
  2. Thank You,,, for those who know me i have sat in every condition thrown at the hunters from oct 1st till the day i was blessed with a shot at this buck.....Yes those trail cams working 24/7 on a food plot can tell ya what is in the area but even the best cameras dont get em all. Also If the biggest buck in the world keeps showing up at 2 am....to me that make as much since as sitting in a train station at noon waiting for the midnight train..... ya gotta figure his daylight pattern, then hope all the star's aligne in your favor for a shot... I have sat in stands i placed knowing the chance of getting a shot are 0 to none but i can see large areas of woods to help me estlablish the deer travel areas....or not any at all ...yes as with fishing we know some spots are dead but you get one on ocasion.. but its that 10% of water that hold 90% of fish we head too ........well their is a reason 90% of the fish are there....now find that 10% of woods , and only only only ...the 3 "Os'" hunt the edges of those areas with the proper wind direction.........this buck was circling his route around a bedding area 200 yds away from it so if ya wanna put the slim odds in yer favor..you can do this and see 1 0r 2 deer a hunt ..or plow right in their see a bunch of small bucks and does .......every day is a new hunt it might take 1 or 10 hunts to see the big ones but a sight like this when you walk up to it makes every rainy, windy, snowy, deerless hunt worth it...opps didnt download pic yet BRB ok i edited the pic
  3. I use a drop too but need my 4 pins if the deer is 15 yds or 50 yds i dont want any guessing,in a hunting situation ,many times you have seconds to react to the deer position,a strutting or angling deer can move several yds in 2 or 3 steps...your best friend is a rangefinder.........have every shooting spot memorized""""" well before the deer shows up""""""""" and you will make the shot EVERYTIME ....well assuming you don't melt, poop yer pants,or close yer eyes....bottom line if you shoot well with your "program" stick with it I am "that guy" who cleans, inspects and stores his bow till 2 weeks before season shoots 10 arrows if all is well its a tip swap and back in the case till opening day..........with that said i have been shooting for over 40 years back in the day i spent hours and hours flinging arrows..........
  4. well almost woosed out this morn.but i forced myself out,, i shimmied up the tree and when it was good light i made a trailing grunt call ,put the call down and noticed i shoud have a arrow on the rest so with bow in hand ,bald eagle....short for ohmygodanothershortfatbaldone... i get ready and after 20 min he comes from my left ears pinned back and lookin for who is chasin his girls ..stoped for a perfect 37 yd shot but knowing i would miss him he decided to come closer so i let it rip at 22 yds or so ,sounded good but he just turned and walked away. it was outa line of sight at 45 yds and i came unglued, hada hand the bow so i could hold on with 2 hands as i sat there shaking.it was a single line of blood for 60 yds then nuttin but a couple drops so i looks up an d 10 yds away he waited for me...Its my best ny buck about a 145in (with a bow) yes all those days of wind rain and snow paid off in record heat...not the biggest we have seen on property but thats why they make guns....im happy...

  15. just another tip from a old fart,go over the boat 100% before you drop another penny, ..stringers,transom,elect,fuel sys. ect, ect,And the "Dog house" eng cover, if that cover allows rain ,spray to drip on the carb it could allow water to get in the engine.

  21. unless you have very weak hooks ya aint gonna straighten a hook on bottom with 30 lb wire ..but if you hook a fish in the bone where the 1 in a hundred hookups occure a fish can straighten a hook easy even at a mild drag setting ...think you lost a big salmon on the run ..seens to happen more with flys than lures..one more reason to check yer hooks after EVERY hit..
  22. mud flat had the chain need correct,,15 ft is what we use in the keys , shorter will work but 15 seems to be that majic length with strong tides and waves..
