  1. ReelPower- I dont think we are trying to attack you, just pointing out that we have had a Thread on this issue for awhile now and its a big issue for us here in NY. It is very sad that any state would allow these in the Great Lakes, but do a little research and I am sure you would change your tune in how you feel. I am in the Environmental engineering field myself, Air Quality to be exact so I deal with air emissions on a daily basis. CO, NOx, SO2, particulate, all the above. I see nothing green about a Wind turbine. The process in which they will build these is going to do some serious damage to the lake bed, stir up all the ugly ducklings from the past that have silted over by mother nature. There are communitys that get there water from the lake. I wonder if they will still be able to after construction. There are 1200 gal of oil in each one, what happens when it leaks? It seems it is unproven technology in an open water situation. There are to many unanswered questions that make this project no sense at all.... Oh and by the way wind power will cost you more money in your monthly bill. Savings at what cost and who's math??? Capt. Brian Garrett Tall Tails Charters
  2. I would think your Hauler would be able to help you with this. He must have a Broker at the border who helps him get his equip thru. I have no expierence with a boat but I have hauled fish across the border a fair amount with my old job. We had a broker that helped us get our product thru all the inspections. Good Luck with it! Also you may want to try this site, as it is nothing but very serious boaters from all over. www.thehulltruth.com Brian
  3. The answer is YES!! Its like any other knot, should be checked frequently and just retied every so often. Brian
  4. I can tell you they are still ice fishing there! The perch are biting thru the ice! It is still early yet. I would look for river access somewhere at this point if you want to get out on the lake.
  5. Kingsalmon22 you have a pm. As for the rest of you April cant get here fast enough!!
  6. Mono backing is fine on anything less then 300ft as you will have a tough time getting enough backing on your reel. The haywire twist is only used to connect copper to copper or copper to spro swivel. Figure out what works for you and stick to it just check all your connections OFTEN and you should be fine.
  7. Its only March!!!! Thats right Paul dont forget it! Oh and go back to fishing your copper like lead core see how that works for you! You know what Rick even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile! It was the right price!!!!
  8. Dont listen to Paul he has been sniffing duck feathers all winter! We have good fishing in the summer Kings are inside 200 depending on temp. All the Lake trout spots are just a hair west of the plant just inside 200ft. Feel free to PM anytime during the season I will let you know whats goin on!

  12. There was a News story this am in Syracuse that all the people that had reservations at the parks scheduled for closure where cancelled and all money returned. Seems like a done deal without listening or discussions. I am sure they will put gates with locks up I know they have a gate at Wilson state park I am sure it is locked. It will be a legal issue to use them, as well as insurance liabilty. Very Sad Day

  15. I recieved this from Dave Turner of Oswego County a few days ago and I wanted to pass it along. It seems the Oswego County Legislature is looking at the turbine ban in the lake just like Jefferson County. Gentlemen: The resolution to NYS stating our opposition to windturbines will be on the agenda of the Oswego county legislature when they meet at 2:00 PM on March 11th. Persons who desire to be heard on this matter should plan to attend the meeting and sign-in on the sheet that references items on the agenda of the day. Please pass this on to those who care about this issue. Dave -- David Turner, Director Comm. Dev., Tourism & Planning Oswego County Office Bldg. 46 E. Bridge St. Oswego, NY
  16. Most of the time in July and early August the coated cable rigger is the hottest rigger for me. The explanation could be that it is fishing like braid but not catching fleas......
  17. Sea School will do the same thing and you can take it in a week and be done with it. There course is 2 Full weekends and all week in the evening and then you test. I wouldnt do it any other way. www.seaschool.com
  18. I run the raider on my boat. I borrowed a boat last yr while mine was in shop that had the new X-4 on it, It seems the X-4 tracks to the current more than I am used to with the raider. I would run the raider after being able to compare them both. The coated cable is the way to go!
  19. Pulled this from the watertown times! Maybe some good news! Legislature opposed to wind farms in the lake By NANCY MADSEN TIMES STAFF WRITER WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2010 ARTICLE OPTIONS A A A A wind power project on an island is OK, but turbines in the lake are not. The Jefferson County Board of Legislators' Planning and Development Committee passed on Tuesday night a resolution opposing the New York Power Authority's plan to put a wind farm in Lake Ontario. NYPA has asked for developers to submit proposals on building towers for up to 500 megawatts of wind power in possible sites in Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. This action came two weeks after the legislators approved a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement for the proposed 252-megawatt Galloo Island Wind Farm. ADVERTISEMENT "While I certainly intend to support it at the full board, my concern is our inconsistency in our message," Legislator Scott A. Gray, R-Watertown, said. Mr. Gray is not a member of the committee. "We're opposing a project with some of the very same things we approved a few weeks ago with the Galloo Island project." The resolution included language that the NYPA project would hurt landowners, "including potential effects on real estate values, scenic vistas, and quality of life." Chairman Barry M. Ormsby, R-Belleville, disagreed. "The two projects, when compared side-by-side, are apples and oranges," he said. "One project is on a 2,200-acre island six-and-a-half miles offshore where 84 turbines will be confined." He acknowledged that a certain section of the shoreline will see the turbines. "But compared to the possible NYPA sites on the maps, you see a total littering of the Eastern basin from Tibbets Point to Mexico Bay," he said. The six members of the committee at the meeting approved the resolution, which the full board will consider on March 2.
