  1. Tough fishing but they are there to be had if you work for them. Looking forward to some easy fishing. LOL But when??
  2. You have a screw that goes through the center of the swing latch. Tighten it up. Every once and a while they will loosen.
  3. Any of you guys running the micro leadcore? What knot are you using to secure the core to the leader? Thanks
  4. It's a lot of work to fish that shallow. Got to keep those lures clean.
  5. Most fish on Saturday came in stupid shallow water on sticks, The area was blown out with heavy mud on Sunday and the fish moved out and south. Spoons run right on bottom out produced the sticks by a large margin.
  6. Kicked off my season with a weekend trip. Fishing was tough on Saturday and it took me a while to dial them in but we got um. Biggest Brown was about 7 1/2 lbs but we did some good numbers. Also picked up a couple Small Mouth with one pushing 5 lbs, a nice Northern and a bonus nice Walleye. These guys were strictly C&R so no pictures of a box but one of the guys sent me some pictures he took on the water. Connor the youngest member of the party took the Northern, the Walleye and the biggest Bass. The northern earned him a cool 40 bucks for big fish of the trip as well as the nickname "Pike Man" Couple of decent Browns.
  7. Nice job Steve. You are getting "fish fingers" for Christmas.
  8. I like the scotty pinch pad releases with the cable clamp. Lower your down rigger to the desired depth and the stacker clamps right on.
  9. Thanks guys. Sure felt good to set the hooks into something.
  10. Finally had soft water and headed out to Port Bay on Saturday to tow the boat home. Spent the rest day rigging her and getting ready to fish. Left the dock at about 7:00 on Sunday morning with my buddy Steve and fished until 11:00. Started out running 4 sticks and two riggers dragging spoons. Found the cookie cutters pretty quick and after some fast action left them alone and went searching for some better fish. Found a pattern that produced some bigger Browns and worked it for a couple hours. Wanted to bring home some meat so we boxed our 6 and headed for home. Enjoyed a beautiful morning and hot fishing with a good friend. Looking forward to another hot spring in the Bay. Good fishing Glen
  11. Now you need them fingers Big Dave.
  12. You don't need them fingers. LOL
  13. Naw, Don't need to. They are what they are.
  14. I see by the early reports some of you freakin guys could really use these. LOL
  15. Have taken several brown fishing in Mexico Bay
  16. Obviously check all connections including the inline fuse holder I have had trouble with corrosion on the contacts and make sure you have a good fresh 9 volt in the probe. Find somebody else that has a subtroll and one by one substitute your components until you find the problem. I would start with the cable that runs from the antenna cable to the head unit as I have had the connection inside the plugs break on me. Took quite awhile to find that one but those soldered joints are kinda flimsy and are subject to stress while plugging in and unplugging the cable. Next substitute the probe and finally the head unit. Good luck
  17. Don't know how long you will be up for but if your new I would suggest booking a Charter for the early part of your stay. That would cut your learning curve and make the rest of your stay a lot more productive and enjoyable. Gearing up to cover all the different presentations is very expensive. Your riggers will get your lures to the required depth and take fish, period. If you wanted to add a new presentation, by fishing with an expert you would see what to buy and take the guess work out of the equation. All the shops in the area will stock everything you would want to add. Best of luck. Glen
  18. It's impossible to tell you where those fish will be as it all depends on the winds moving the water temps around. I've taken fish from 10 fow to 100 fow at that time of year. Just be prepared to fish. Under normal circumstances I would say an average of 40 to 60 fow would be a good bet and you probably won't be flat lining sticks on the surface. But stranger things have happened.
  19. LOL. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
  20. The 80 lb test break away cable is reliable as long as your rigger cable doesn't have any bad spots. Thats what it's there for. Sacrifice a weight and save your probe. Don't matter if you have a line attached or running it alone, it's still in the water so why not drag a lure off it?
