  1. Do it yourself. If you don't feel confident I'm in Mexico next weekend. I'll show you how.
  2. I run about 16 Tekota 600lc's. Heavy use and I love um. Just got to re grease the drag washers every two or three years and no issues at all. Great reel.
  3. Diawa Sealine 47lc's are a good reliable reel for about a hundred bucks. I run the 27's on my Brown rods and a couple 47's on my braid diver rod. Very good middle of the road reel that will serve you well and the 47's have plenty of line capacity for Kings good luck with your decision.
  4. Acetone
  5. Yes. Don't know anything about a Lowrance AP but my Simrad controlled both a 200 Yamy and the 15 hp kicker without an issue.
  6. How could this be? I read here they use junk reel seats on the Talora.
  7. Quite often these early spring Browns will be more active during the afternoon bite than the morning bite. A day of bright sun will warm those surface waters and shallows by a couple of degrees and these fish get active. Good luck with your recovery and those Browns.
  8. The manual Scottys were sweet as well Tim. I started with two manuals and two electrics in 1994. In fact the manuals out performed any other manual on the market with 2 ft of retrieve per revolution of the horizontal spools and the handles on top of the spool made for easy cranking. Haven't encountered any problems with the "poor design" yet but it's only been a couple of decades since I started running them. Maybe next year.
  9. Hank will do a first class, clean installation. Only guy that will touch my boat.
  10. Not a bit. I run 30 lb Ande necked down to 20 for Salmon spoons and plugs Straight 30 to FF.
  11. If you go with the Talora they are great rods. Medium action is all you will need. Been running several for years without a glich and fought many big Kings including a 32 + during the 2011 Niagara pro-am on the 8' 6" medium action. A little heavy for Browns unless they are big ones in my opinion but I tend to lean towards a good battle over wenching fish in.
  12. Definatley use the 80 lb test cable from the probe to the weight. A lost probe can ruin your day.
  13. I run Ugly stick BWD 1101 light action DR rods for my small inline boards. Well built and light enough to enjoy a Brown on, as well as enough backbone to handle the occasional King that is lurking in the early spring shallows. At about $50.00 a rod they are tough to beat.
  14. Watch out for my coppers hot dog. LOL
  15. According to Canadian Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips, Lake Ontario has frozen over on two recorded occasions. The first came during the winter of 1874-75. The second came during the cold winter of 1934 (February).
  16. Bummer. Thanks for the updates guys. I got to set the hooks into something pretty soon Looks like I'll stay home and shovel this weekends snow storm and respool a couple more rods. Good fishing Glen
  17. Hows the weather out in your neck of the woods? Snow up the pooper out here. Anyway I was hoping to get out on Seneca for Landlocks for three days this weekend. Ramp at the south end locked up? How about the Tagonauk (sp) on Cayuga? Thanks for any help. Glen
  18. You did the right thing as far as I'm concerned. Nice job. Honest people are hard to come by in todays society. Maybe notify the towns lost and found if they have one or the town cops.
  19. 2014 March 29th. Mexico Bay and the Little Salmon.
  20. Better performance at slow speeds and choppy water than the compass alone. You got a pm
  21. Looking for 2" and 2 1/2" floating Pins Minnows in Rainbow Trout, Gold Black and Gold Flame. Anybody? Thanks
  22. What lb test do you use for Muskies and Pike? And just out of curiosity why not steel ? Thanks
  23. A lot of deflated balls in this thread.
  24. Interesting. Why did you need to send them out for new drags? Drag washers are very easy to replace and I got 10 + seasons of heavy use on around 8 of mine with no issues.
  25. Shimano tekota 600 lc's Very happy with the 16 or so I run and have been for years.
