  1. Rob, Our group has been using DDW stuff for 3 seasons now and we are pleasd. We keep our cloths in air tight containers after being washed and we put them on outside before going into the woods. I have given up on the carbon lined stuff but i do wear silver thread base layers under my cloths because I believe it keeps bacteria growth down to a minimum which is where our body odor comes from and I always spray everthing down before heading out. I do believe it helps by keeping our humane scent imprint down on the property we hunt, there is no stopping some scent from getting to there nose but by keeping the parts per milon down i believe they are spooked less because they believe we are farther away than we realy are. JMHO. Gene
  2. Harvey, I got my weights yesterday 8/30 they look awesome, thank you for getting them out so fast I cant wait to drop them down this weekend!! Gene Shenk
  3. Guys She had a great time but after that salmon in the pic she finally said i think you will have to bring in the next one. It was a nice lazy afternoon of fishing no wire or any D Diver's for that matter hell sometimes we only had 2 poles in the water and we still caught fish, the fishing could not be any better!!! Gene
  4. Fishing Report Sandy creek Your Name / Boat Name: Gene/ Freedom ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/11/12 Time on Water:3to7 pm Weather/Temp:warm and dry Wind Speed/Direction:light wind from thr north Waves: 0-1" Surface Temp: 72°f Location: Sandy creek off devils nose. LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 6 Total Boated:4 Species Breakdown: Kings, hoes and heads. Hot Lure: sea sick waddler Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.2 mph Boat Depth: 95 to 140 Lure Depth: 30 to 80 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS I took the wife so she could catch some lake O fish for the first time because she usually just drives the boat and lets the kids do the reeling. We just ran a couple rods of the riggers but she caught her first King, hoe and head. The biggest king came on a lighter rod i usually run stacked high for hoes and heads so she realy got her moneys worth LOL!! ====================
  5. I have run dipsy rigs with 50lb power pro with Twili tips for a couple of seasons now with great results. How ever I have never ran mono with twili tips so i can not comment on that.
  6. Hi Folks, Next year i will be slipping my boat so i need to get the bottom of my boat repainted, it has not been done since I bought it in 2008 because I have only trailered it. I was looking for a recommendation in the rochester area to get this done? I also was wondering if anyboby would know the approximate cost for this? I have a 2004 trophy 1802 so it is a small 18' walkaround style boat with an outboard. Thanks Gene
  7. Last night November 1st we saw 3 bucks 2 were shooters the one shooter was up and bumbing does at 420 pm pretty early consudering it was pretty warm out, I passed on a very nice 2 yr old buck because I realy want to shoot a mature 3 your old or better this year. So I took off from work to hunt this morning and i saw deer from 7am till I had to leave at 930am and it killed me to put that arrow back on the quiver!! I saw at least 6 different bucks and one nice 8 point (3yr old)i would have shot it if he would have cooperated he was at 20 yards but would not put himself in a shooting lane (frustrating) but the last 2 days were very exciting for us and Iam positive it is only going to get better. Gene
  8. I say 4 small bucks bumbing does last night and we are starting to get some trail cam pics of shooters during daylight hours.
  9. Sounds great steve i would love to see it!! Gene
  10. Steve I can tell you what I have bought for the last 15 years and I still have the first 2 I bought which were Gorilla hang on stands built out of steel. I have bought their ladder stands and both their steel and aluminum hang on stands over the years. I have not had any problem with them and the ones I bought this year cost me $100 for the steel one and $120 for small aluminum one which weighs 10.5 pounds, which I will tell you is not an all day sitter but very easy to put up for quick set’s but it is pretty darn small. I dont know anything about the screaming eagle stands but i will take a look at them for reference and let you know what I think. I dont know if this helps or not. Gene
  11. Thanks For the input guys and have a great season!!
  12. Do any of you guys use lighted nocks on your arrows? I took some advice from a buddy and tried the nocturnal nocks and so far they seem pretty nice but i was just looking for more opinions so if you have some feeedback on any other brands lets hear then! Thanks Gene
  13. Hi Guys I tryed a place in Avon last winter and I thought the prices were reasonable and the product was good. Tim is a nice guy and easy to deal with so you might want to check him out! Here is his link. http://www.steelesausage.com/index.html
  14. I would go light the grill and grab a beer and maybe try it latter this afternoon you have been fishing hard and could use a break from that frustration. Good Luck and thanks for the great reports!
  15. When I go to the 1000 islands and fish with bait we found if we kept the hooks 18 to 24 inches above the sinker the gobies would not get at them and we still were cathing nice bass and perch. Make sure you have enough weight to keep your line straight and also account for any leader you use that will hang down and cut into that distance to the bottom. I like to put the hook right on the main line (drop shot style) I dont know if this will apply to were you are fishing but i hope it helps. When we ran a two hook program (crappie rig with wire and beads)we would use pretty large bass minnows on the bottom hook and either worms or smaller minnows on the top hook and the gobies rarely bothered the large minnow on the bottom hook. Good Luck
  16. Thanks Nate it is an awesome saw my buddy loves it and I will get to use it as well whenever i need it! 2 log loads comimg so this baby will get a work out and give a well needed break to a few 20 year old sawsThanks again! Gene
  17. Your in the right place to learn everything you will need to know. I would start by reading and searching specific questions then when you can not find certain answers start posting and there will be plenty of help on this site to get you going in the right direction. Good Luck and above all have fun!!!
  18. I bought a new Z9 from Phill at Indian mountain and I love that almost 83/4" BH. I shot a ton of bows and this was a very smooth drawing and very forgiving bow. I am not into speed so if that is your thing this bow might not be for you but for hunting whitetails in wny I could not find a better bow for me! Hands down Phil race at inidian mountain is the best shop owner, bow tech and shooting coach I have ever come across in 35 years of bowhunting. There are other great guys out there with more selection but if i was giving a recommendation to somebody wanting to buy a Mathews or Mission bow it would be him!
  19. I have a 2004 1802 trophy walkaround with 115 4stroke on it and I like it. I put nautica trim tabs on it so i could stay on plane at lower speeds which does help in choppy water they also help the boat get on plane very fast with a full crew and they are cheap to buy and easy to install. It is a better ride then my 16' aluminium boat was on the big water but it still has its limitations. I love the 115hp 4 stroke it sips gas and with 4 guys and gear I can still travel as fast as 35 mph and it will troll as slow as you would ever want to go for trout and salmon. The cuddy is small but 2 can sleep and certainly the kids love it for the ride back when the weather is bad and it makes a good area to store stuff. My wife likes the cuddy because she has a private place to change or use the porta a potti. I also use the boat for perch fishing and I put 2 kids in front and 4 of us fish out the back with bait and it is mangable. K gone fish is right if you dont mind towing it and storing it BIGGER is Always Better but this boat fits my situation very well. If you want to talk more about the boat just PM me a phone number.
  20. Bob I used to have a 40hp force pre mix with an internal 12 gal tank and I could burn 2 tanks a day fishing with that p o s now i have 115 hp 4 stroke merc opn a 18 foot walk around cuddy and burn 5 to 10 a day max. So guys unless you have owned a force outboard do not doubt what that thing can burn it was like no other motor I have ever seen.
  21. I hate to tell you but if you put a motor even an electric motor on a canoe you will have to register it. I put a small electric motor on a 9.5 foot row boat and got a ticket because it was not registered. The laws may have changed but I am pretty sure that is the deal in NY.
  22. It is a folding boat that is a good seaworthy unit for what it is but I must say he has a lot bigger, well you know, then i got to take that 3 miles off shore in the big O! But that is just my humble opinion.
