  1. I agree with you Ray. I strong south wind will cause the lake to flip as well.
  2. Mark it means that the cold water is in because the lake has turned over.
  3. Hey Tom how do you like that Raymarine unit? I run the same one and like it very much.
  4. Fished the inside waters, 7 for 10, mixed bag of fish metalic glow frogs down 52 was hot for today. Be out again on Sunday.
  5. During the day. I have never attempted going down there at night. Crazy people!!!
  6. The genny holds fish all summer long. You say you have a 16ft boat, that's perfect. Launch at the genny in Charlotte and make the trek up river. Seth green island will be on your left side before the fast water. Crank baits back trolled or casted in the cut on the west side of the river. Fire tiger is a good color. If your nuts you can get to the fast water on the east side of the river throw out the anchor and let your cranks just swim in the current I like cranks that will dive 5-6ft and up to 8 ft. As a bonus you will catch some of the biggest sheephead you'll ever see as well as some real good sized cats. All on the same cranks. Took a walleye last summer that topped 10lbs.
  7. I rely on my sonar unit for rigger depth. Either the calibration is off on the Cannon or I'm not dropping it down right. The depth it shows is much higher on the Cannon than it shows on the graph. I have verified this with balls bouncing bottom in 80 fow and the unit shows the ball at 70ft down. The best feature I think is the light meter showing light penetration percent at the depth of the ball. The worst feature is the part that your downrigger wire makes contact with the antenna wire on the probe. If you have ball retrievers they could break that .70 part and put you out of business. I ordered 3 extra ones from Cannon.
  8. I have stopped going to Mexico. I haven't been there in years. They are the worst group of charters I have ever seen. They will not hesitate to cut you off and it's no accident. I had a charter cut me off the last time I was there and he litterally waved as he was taking my gear. If my partner would have had a gun that boat would've been full of holes. Thank god he didn't. I'll stick to Sandy, braddocks and the genny thank you! Everyone whether they are charters or Recs are very accommodating and considerate. Hats off to the guys that fish Orleans and monroe counties.
  9. I started out with the subtroll and it was a good unit and pretty accurate. I now run the Cannon unit and it's a very good product with some helpful faetures. The down side is that if you loose the probe it costs about 400.00 to replace. Lots of guys run the depth raider and it's also very good. The plus for the depth raider is the cost of a replacement probe, half of what you would pay for the Cannon probe. I would go with the depth raider.
  10. That's the one. It was a little rough out there that day and you were telling us about how the trim tabs leveled outthe ride. That's the main reason why I had them put on my New trophy and it rides sweet in the rough water. Good luck to you in the upcoming pro-ams.
  11. Actually John Russo introduced us about 6 yrs ago I think. You were fishing with your dad out of Braddocks. I don't think you were in the Ceira. What was your previous boat?
  12. John I looked at your boat this spring and I thought about giving you a shout before my trip to Barcelona. I just ran out of time. It was a fairly decent pick for us. We worked 55-115 FOW west of port about 7 miles. Mostof the VHF chatter said that most boats were taking 1-5 fish with Monday being pretty slow. Do you have a remedy for those darn flies? By the way I wound up buying a new Trophy.
  13. Spent Sunday and Monday out of Barcelona, fishing was slow but we managed to take 15 fish up to 8lbs, lost a few at the boat. It was hot and the flies were relentless. There was barely a ripple on the water Sunday and Monday dead calm. Looking forward to going again. Joe Reel Drag
  14. Yea Rich I was the guy talking to you while you were coming in, I tried to tell you about the antenna but you didn't hear me. I've done it with my rods before when they were in the launcher. It sucks. JOE REEL DRAG
  15. If you are using 1 bag the boat will favor that side of the boat. With 2 bags one per side you should have no trouble staying straight. You might have to kick up the speed a little with 2 bags to get proper trolling speed for the target species.
  16. Went to 70fow and set up for browns, none to be had. Had good marks and bait in 70-80 fow 2 kings, 3 steelhead and 2 lakers for the morning. Fish came 60ft down to the bottom. Picture also looked good in 100 fow. Green can to the lighthouse was best.
  17. Scott, the new boat is awesome and it's finally set up the way I want. I haven't heard you out there the last couple weeks, are you fishing? I'll be out late morning Saturday or Sunday. Tight lines. Joe
  18. Started out inside looking for browns 50-70 fow, managed a fat 8-9 lbder. Kept working for about 2.5 hrs before heading out to lake trout country. Put about a dozen in the boat including a 13lb and one over 14lbs. Didn't weigh them in because we didn't feel like killing the fish for a few bucks if they held up. It was a beautiful day out there. The browns seem to be in the upper 25ft and not really feeding at least for us this weekend. The fish were there, and so was the bait. Bait was on the bottom with little or no hooks around it except lakers in 100 fow. Anyone having simular results with the browns?
  19. Scott I should be out on Saturday. Most likely I will be fishing with Mike on Coyote Ugly out ofd Sandy. Channel 72
  20. Scott what the heck is a dive bomb? I've never heard of it. How did you make out at the orleans pro am? Joe.
  21. RR, sorry to hear about the accident. As has been said, thank god no one was hurt. Good luck with your new boat purchase. Joe
  22. Can anyone give me some info on where to have a set of rocket launchers fabricated in the Rochester area? Thanks in advance. Joe
  23. Gator, did that Wellcraft come equipped with them or did you get them somewhere else. I'm looking to have one made somewhere but I don't have a clue on who I would call. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Keith. Joe.
