FDNY thanks for sharing this very interesting article. As for everyone reading this post, in case you see the water receeding from the shoreline, it is time to run to safety.

Everyday, something always happen. Just like the recent earthquake we had about half hour ago. Such a rarity. I just wonder if earthquake helps us catch more fish or this might scare away the fish from our lures. Maybe there is no effect at all. Perhaps, this is a sign from above. Or this could be caused by someone dancing on the boat somewhere in the big Lake O. I am sure Stan our LOU friend from California has experienced this from time to time. Perhaps, Stan would like to chime in.

Way to go Cornelis. That knot job must have been nuts to untie. Anyhow congratulations on catching so many while I came up with just two hits and one fish last Sunday. -

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Pike Hunter ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/12/10 Time on Water: 6:30 am - 10 am Weather/Temp: Cloudy/Few showers Wind Speed/Direction: East Waves: 2-4, building to 3-4 Surface Temp: 60 Location: Front of Ibay to Genny LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3 Total Boated: 3 Species Breakdown:Baby Kings Hot Lure: NK 42 seconds Trolling Speed: 2.5-3.0 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 100-140 Lure Depth: 40'-80' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Started out later after 6 a.m. after the T storm passed Rochester. Checking the NOAA radar before heading out is a must! We were greeted by eastern winds as expected. Headed out NE and trolled W with the waves behind our boat. Two riggers 40 and 80 over 100-140 FOW. Two wire divers 140-200. Same lure 42nd seconds took three fish as our newbie boated his first fish on Lake Ontario. Nothing stellar. Very small king. All baby kings returned to lake successfully. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring bigger fish to everyone fishing out there.

Which reel is best for copper line?
Pike Hunter replied to Deaf Fisherman's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Hey Mark, You have tried my dipsey set up on my boat when you reeled in the dispey. It was the Okuma Convector reel with stainless steel wire. When you come back to Rochester in the fall, I am more than glad to show you different reels: Okuma and Daiwa LCA for the wire set up and Tekota 400' and 500' for copper set up. BTW, I will have a blast watching you pull a 25# king on the 500' copper! Anthony -
Chris, You did great by targeting the LT in your program. Fishing has been unrealistically slow this year. It felt like as if the quiet summer transition period has started earlier than expected. Last year in May, I had a blast catching kings and bows right in front of Genny in about 90 FOW. Nothing like that this year. No big bait pods to follow. With golf last Friday, I was never near my boat over the long weekend. Hopefully with the NW winds and rising warm water at the western basin, the sharks would move into our neighborhood. Tight lines Anthony

Thanks for the report. We only did one laker in about 100 FOW. Trolled all the way to 330 FOW and surface temp was 58. Slow morning for us. -
Where are the pictures of the boat?

Nice brown. Thanks for sharing picture. We had one hit yesterday from 5:30 am to 9:30 am. We only saw the fish came up to the surface with its big white belly before it killed the line. It could be a king. We only did trolling for browns in 8 to 12 FOW before we moved to 35 FOW. Thats the only action that happened. -
I-Bay 5-19
Pike Hunter replied to bill's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Bill, I went out last night also from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Started in 90 FOW. All empty in the screen. Surface temp at 46. Motored back to 40 FOW between Genny and IBay. I find the green stained water and the surface temp was at 48 and warmed up to 50 degrees by the time I approached 35-40 FOW. Marks started showing up on the screen. More activity showed up in 35 FOW and surface temp at 49 degrees. No bite at all. It was a nice evening to be out. Cant beat this.
