  1. Well then maybe the lack of tourism $$ will get them to change their policy. In Pennsylvania there are a LOT of people with DUIs. ...insert Pennsylvania jokes here... Maybe a lot less visitors to Marineland will cause them to change their minds?
  2. Why wouldn't they let a DUI offender into Canada? Its not like an armed robbery or murder or something like that??? Is there any way to check this stuff out ahead of time? Don't want to get up there with a crew and have one of us left at the border and short for the tourney. BTW... The Scotty site is up and running again but still has the '07 rules on it?????
  3. Do you use a Willis Knot to attach core to braid backing? Or do you do a double uni or similar? I think I might reload braid on as backing on my 3s and 5s. I run mono as backing on mine, so Willis is not an issue.
  4. Check out Coastwatch and the MODIS images of the western basin of Lake Erie for 3/11 and 3/13 and you will see ice cover is diminishing quickly. A couple weeks of continued longer photo period as well as warming temps and we should be ice free making way for the warming Erie waters to flow into the Niagara plume.
  5. A lot of those bass guys go for the braid for flippin' and hitting the heavy stuff. I won't use anything but fluoro for leaders of divers and retie most of my flies with 50# fluoro. I think we have even increased our rigger production by going to 22# Gamma fluoro on rigger rods.
  6. It IS early for the boom to be out. The wind storm we had a few weeks ago tore it apart. The good news: Today: http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/ ... 3.250m.jpg Feb 24th: http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/ ... 3.250m.jpg The ice pack on Erie is definitely breaking up. With this week's slightly warmer temps and long term trend looking warmer, photo period increasing and the lack of the ice boom in the Niagara River, we could have a lot of the ice pack gone from Erie very soon and the waters of Lake Erie consequently being able to warm more quickly than last year.
  7. Wow... Last year we did best on Mags. Only pulled one mature on a reg. Blue Dolphin.
  8. http://www.gl2s.com/ I'd like to see a couple events on Lake O as well as Lake Erie to truly make it a "Great Lakes Series" Wouldn't it be nice to be able to make a living fishing...
  9. My buddy had the boat out one day two August's ago out of Conneaut, OH and has 4 waterspouts in the same frame an additional 6 or 7 miles north of where he was fishing under calm seas and blue skies! YIKES! ...btw they put 5 limits in the box that day.
  10. ...but wouldn't it be nice to be able to run 3 rods/lines per person like Michigan?
  11. I'd like to have at least two boxes of spoons! Mag Silver Streak Ole Yeller Mag NK Watermelon Hologram I know that they are made in NY, but I am honestly surprised at how many NKs are showing up. No DWs or Stingers?
  12. Keating says #11s. I think 19s would be even better.
  13. Interesting FYI... Just got some info from the president of our local fishing club out of Erie, PA. Last year's Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission laker study revealed that of the two strains of Lake Trout present in Lake Erie, that one strain relied on the round goby as 67% of its diet and the other strain relied on the round goby for 78% of it diet!!!! STOCK MORE LAKERS!!!!!
  14. Nice fish! Did you get a weight on that toad?
  15. It does resemble a Nile Perch though Tim.
  16. I have run that Die Hard in aforementioned holographic NK version as well as Billy V's Habanero from DW, and the NK NBK on numerous occassions on Lake O and have yet to have any produce anything but one steelhead. Have had the NBK produce well on Erie, but very little on Ontario. How deep will you fish these? Better on riggers or divers?
  17. I purposely remove the front ring from ALL my spoons before putting them in the box. I think the snap-swivel on the terminal end of your gear is sufficient to produce action.
  18. Come on down guys! I know some of us are coming up to fish the Spring Scotty as well as the Niagara Pro-Am, come on down and enjoy our great late summer mixed bag offshore fishery! The tourney produced some outstanding trophies last year including MANY 'eyes over ten and I believe the largest a tad over 13# as well as many steelies over 10# as well with the biggest of the tourney I believe bagged by LOU member Paul Czarnecki at a little over 14#.
  19. 2 corner riggers in a "suck 'em in" set up. Dodger/fly on higher rigger about 20' off the ball. I use the Dodger to have a constant "eye" on my down speed. Use it a lot like a thumper. The deeper rigger has a MAG Ole Yeller Silver Streak on it, generally about 50' off the ball, unless it is deeper than 100 and then I will reign it in to 10 or so feet off the ball. I really think that ball acts as an attractor that deep because often that deep spoon will light up when its leash is shortened up. 2 deep wire divers, 1 with spoon, 1 with Spin Doc / fly. Run the wire diver w/ spoon closest to the corner rigger w/ the dodger/fly on it. Run the flasher/fly diver closest to the corner rigger w/ the MAG Ole Yeller. 2 braid high/out divers 1 with a spoon the other w/ Spin Doc / fly. Run the spoon braid diver next to the wire diver w/ the flasher/fly and the Spin Doc/fly closest to the wire with the spoon. Then start seeing what's working (hopefully something) and make changes from there.
  20. How was the duckin' seasquirrel? Lots of 'bills around? Old Squaw? Many Cans or Reds?
  21. Thanks for your thoughts guys. Don't mean to air my dirty laundry, but I REALLY need to get on the Storm and catch something... Even if its a cold...
  22. Sorry guys, Sleeping at the wheel. Been a ROUGH couple of months. I had just gotten two phone calls before I wrote that that I lost two friends the day before, one due to a snowmobiling accident and the other we don't know. They just found him dead in his apartment.
  23. Damn, I sent a spoon off to DW last fall (another brand) that was DYNO-MITE to see if they would replicate it in a Super Slim, guess they decided not to. Can't wait to try a Bloody Death Spin Doc. Just wonder what to put behind it: Purple Mirage? a T21 Crushed Ice/Pearl? a T45 Ultra Glow Purple? Its started already and its only January!!!!!
