  1. Its got a little of everything. I guess its colors kind of remind me of a Habanero on a copper blank. See if Billy V (he basically invented the pattern) has some Habaneros on copper blanks. If he doesn't, he may be able to tell you where to find them. Its also kind of similar to a Dave's Salmon Slapper (Hot Reels Capt. Dave Sullivan in Ontario waters of Lake O. design) on a copper blank from DreamWeaver. You may want to check it out as well.
  2. 104 days on the countdown clock!!!!!!! Won't be long and we will be under 100!!! Maybe if these above average temps hang around we may find Kings more along the lines of the size that they were in spring '05 because the Big Boys may have been able to feed more aggressively throughout the winter.
  3. We switched over to straight fluorocarbon on our rigger rods last year and it DEFINITELY improved our catch rates off the balls. It is a little pricey to do a whole rod with it, however, we did see some advantages: 1) Fluoro is virtually invisible underwater = more stealthy 2) Less stretch in fluoro, better hook sets 3) Fluoro is more abrasion resistant and lacks the memory of mono. We use adjustable Cannon and Scotty releases and I don't fret too much anymore about abrasion when line comes out of pincher release The cheaper way to pull this off is to use a small spool of fluoro and tie off to mono backing. Just my .02 ...the countdown is on!
  4. I just want one... Five or 6 boats in the parking lot with full coolers of matures that are more than happy to share where the fish are and what they want to hit. It would be nice to have a few more bait shops PERIOD between Olcott and the Bar on the U.S. side.
  5. Get some ugly tangles when that diver gets whacked going out on the clicker???
  6. PA BABY! Specifically western PA!!!!! It ain't all about walleyes on the big puddle!
  7. Did you get that big ole Steelie from the Erie Pro Am mounted Paul?
  8. Did anybody catch many if any Kings actually on the Bar this spring? We caught all our Kings off the ledge in at least 180'. 180 to 200 fow was the hottest for us all May last year especially about 3 miles east of the red can.
  9. I don't know Tim... We had a pretty good couple days off the Bar at the end of August. No tanks, but lots of matures hooked up as well as teenagers. Also nabbed a laker and a couple steelies. It was HoHo city down there in early May.
  10. http://www.bigfishsportfishing.com/library.html Santa told me he ordered the pair for the Storm!
  11. Have 3 Spoon Caddies and gettin' a 4th for myself for Christmas. I love them. Keeps everything organized but in plain view for quick switches. The only flaw that I have found is that the plastic latches are constantly falling off.
  12. Erby Joe, I like this version a lot better: http://store.walleyetacklestore.com/spooncaddy.html They can handle minis, regulars, and mags all in the same box if you like.
  13. Why are they so short Tim? Too many juvies running the tribs? Too small a population running the tribs? I am not sure that I understand the root of the problem. Thanks for the info.
  14. Thanks Skeiner! We'll see you all soon, its time to Christmas shop and with that exchange, there won't be anything left for us! Let us know when your gas prices are under $1.05/litre. We will be flocking to the boarder like a reverse migration of bluebills!
  15. Looks like an Allegheny River specimen?
  16. I actually run a flasher, actually, usually an Opti Dodger right above my deep rigger that is ALWAYS a Silver Streak Mag Ole Yeller or Hot Lobster.
  17. 1) New Depth Raider probe 2) New segmented coppers from A Tom Mik 3) Spring Kings like they were in '06 4) SPRING! 5) Pray that the powers that be allow the mortgage business to resume to somewhat normal levels or I won't have the $$ to fish. 6) Get the wires to fire more often
  18. Fished the weekend out of Y-town. 9/1 Got out in the dark and was greeted by stiff 2 to 4 roll/chop and headed east as we believed fish to be staging in the plume. Worked west from 65 fow out to 120 fow with one shaker coming on a J plug a few feet off the bottom. Saw a group of 3 boats working hard west of the can so we meandered that way. Steady pick from 8:30 to about 11:30 from 120 to 200 fow, 50 degrees down 85. Lots of Kings in a variety of sizes and 1 small steelie. 4/4 on majors all on Mt. Dew spinnies and green / glow Action flies on braid dipsys 3.5 setting, 225 out. Biggest King was 22#. All majors were taken out of temp, that braid set was down about 62 feet. Slammed teenagers consistently on white Opti dodger w/ blue bubble glow Action fly down 85 on rigger. Deeper sets yielded only a couple teenagers and many shakers. Sunday 9/2: MUCH NICER LAKE. Fished same marks as Saturday only much slower fishing. Took 10 shakers from daybreak till 2:30 pm. Got one 8# laker on white Opti Dodger / Blue Bubble Glow fly, Had 4 big rips on Mt. Dew Spinny / Green, Glow Action fly set, Had another Mt. Dew Spinny / Green Krinkle fly on the braid set on the exact same setting on opposite side of the boat...nada. Only landed one of the 4 rips (blew our perfect streak) Ran wire divers with White/white glow spinnies and Hammer fly, nada, ran wire divers with white/pearl spinnies and Blue bubble flies, nada. Only rips I got on wire diver was with Mag Watermelon Holo NK, lost it too. Really expected to SLAM them Sunday after we thought we had a program dialed in on Saturday. Oh well, that's why they call it fishing, not catching.
  19. We will back up for the weekend from the evening of Friday 8/31 through evening Sunday 9/2. Please feel free to hail us on the radio. Enjoyed yapping w/ you guys on the Bar this spring hopefully can do it again with a few majors screaming as well. We will be somewhere between Olcott and the Bar.
  20. NICE!!! Can't wait to get up there Labor Day weekend! Hope the fishing stays HOT! Storm II
  21. Fished Sunday pm and Monday am off Olcott. Sunday pm worked from 280 all the way into 75 from the red barn as far east as the microwave tower. Total of 1 shaker and 1 missed rip on the wire diver - Mt. Dew Spinny/Green Krinkle Horse Fly. Awful. Scarce bait picture, a few marks inside, very little outside 100. Of course, missed the rip, took out about 20 feet and gone. Monday am: Shot out with the charter boats, WAY out. and set up just shy of 500 fow. Worked from 35 to 75 down and shortly in had a SLAM on the port wire diver w/ white Echip and Hammer fly only to have the whole shooting match shredded. Got back the loose end of the wire. That's expensive. Yes, drag was plenty loose enough, and there was a snubber. To add insult to injury, what looked to be a low to mid 20s King waved bye bye behind the boat 6 times jumping trying to shake the wire assembly hanging from his maw. Fished into as far as 425 and picked up a couple shakers and 3 dandy steelies, 2 over 30". Also missed a big hit on a deep rigger???? Fleas were awful inside and out off Olcott. Monday pm, shot down to Ytown and launched at the Bar to try our luck there. LOADS and LOADS of bait from the red can out to 190 fow. Worked as far as 250 fow and as far east as about 4 miles east of the can. Shakers everywhere, but few biggies. Did have a 2 big rips on wires again, but as usual, slam zzzzt, zzzzt, gone. Lady luck turned into another ex wife.
  22. Not trying to be stupid here but I thought he asked about dodgers and flies. Everybody but Skeiner is giving him flashers and flies. Do you want dodgers and flies or Flashers and flies In the Box?????
  23. They look a lot like fish I used to have in my aquarium. I think they were called rosy barbs?
  24. Definitely think the average will be down a little from last year. Not near the number of 20+ fish as last year. I am sure that there will be a rogue or two out there that will top 36# this fall. Just keep an eye on the Fish Doctor. It will probably come off his boat! I'll tell you with a lot more accuracy over Labor Day weekend at Olcott Bob's Boy.
