  1. I have no problem volunteering. It makes me feel like, we the fisherman have some small bit in control of our fishery. Especially right now when cuts are occurring and it appears our input counts for very little. Plus we treat each of those fish like gold because its our fish, for our port. Nothing against the DEC workers, but its a job and one of a million fish, not sure they are as invested in each of the fish as we are.
  2. Donations were asked for like many charities will do. Most businesses and local governments realize what a great local fishery does for thier businesses, tax bases, tourism and good press. So they choose to support the project. But understand the donations are asked for. I see nothing wrong in seeking financial support from the community. It’s asked for not demanded.
  3. Indonesian company by the looks of it. Website is only about 6 months old. I would be wary. 4. Had about sixteen turkeys make me come to a complete stop on the parkway between Sandy and Bald Eagle yesterday early evening.
  5. I don’t go on anybody’s boat, buddies, charter or family without discussing what I am and they are comfortable with me doing before I touch a thing. I let people on my boat know what I expect. Most part I let people do everything they are willing too, if I know they can handle it or teach them and help them the first few times. Luckily for me most of the guys I get in my boat are more experienced than I am. But for new fishing buddies I teach. We all got to learn. But let’s make that process as cheap as possible from equipment side. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. WHEC did a story on it tonight. They Interviewed our own Tom Barbera about all the repair work keeping him busy. http://www.whec.com/news/dozens-of-boats-damaged-from-channel-into-lake-ontario-/4982599/?cat=565
  7. I run copper and lead core down the chute often with just me and one buddy. Key thing is always be aware its out there and were it is in relation to the fish and move it or reel it in when needed. Yeah it sucks to reel it in to just clear it for a fish on another rod but that is the price I pay sometime for running it. Congratulations on a nice fish. Rule number three is a real good one.
  8. Braid works fine until the fleas show up and then its not worth the trouble of running it. Best bet is get the wire for dipsy's and not have to deal with fleas. And when the fleas are bad the wire gets them too, but when that happens is manageable.
  9. Same guy who made Perry’s no peep site. Old link for the thread is I want to say they were on the website for sale way back but not sure currently if they are.
  10. That is one heck of a nice offer Brian just gave you. You couldn't have a better laker guy offering you advice and guidance!
  11. I had something going on last night so I DVR'd it. Probably watch it this weekend, if nobody else reports I will update after I watch it.
  12. Just got this in email from Spectrum. Watch Clip hyperlink: WATCH A CLIP
  13. Some Pictures of today's work party. Great turnout made the work go a lot easier.
  14. Use a boga grip on the fish. Tie a rope to the handle and let out the fish overboard. Let the fish swim along with your trolling. After a couple of minutes most are strong enough to swim of once you release from the boga grip.
  15. We can get that footage also with the drone. and we can compare tirades year to year. History must be recorded.
  16. If someone has a drone to get aerial coverage of this for our viewing entertainment that would be appreciated.
  17. I would think over that twenty year period lake fertility level would be a a factor also. Phosphorus levels have declined pretty good during this time. Maybe bad winters, while still harmful we’re buffered by larger fertility levels buffering the starvation portion of the equation. Either way seeing your numbers should be really interesting. Thanks for the work Brian.
  18. Get some Fabaloso at the dollar store Mike was very happy winterizing my boat after I cleaned the bilge with that stuff.
  19. I don't think the drag on spinning gear would fare very well over a season Lake Ontario abuse, much less the rest of the reel. Fall salmon fishing used to leave me with bad drags and bails/spools that got wobbly and constantly needed repair or tightening of screws and nuts. The 90 degree angle the line goes out on spinning gear puts a terrible pressure on the spinning gear and just wears everything down really quick with each and every big fish. Whereas a level wind the line goes out straight and create less stress on the reel housing and drag system. You don't have to cast when trolling so level wind is really the best reel for you to use out there.
  20. Yeah .... No. Billy can but I think the rest of us are out on that one.
  21. Smart Troll is probably the device your looking for.
  22. So those deeper in the the know with the DEC and a better understanding of the bait fish situation , I am looking at you Jerry Felluca and friends, when should we be starting to get worried with the prolonged nasty cold snap?
  23. Glad to hear you are recovering from you shop problems Nick. Your paint jobs did very well for me last year and can't wait to get some more from you.
  24. Pap, Yeah this is the big show at the Niagara Falls convention center. Lots of vendor and lots of seminars. The have like 10 rooms they have seminars. Each room has a series of seminars for a certain type of activity. One rooom may have different seminars on stream fishingwith ea h one being an hour or two. The next room may be open lake, the next is walleye. Most of these are free with admission. But the salmon school, the How to better use your electronics and walleye carry an extra charge over admission. Great show, well managed!
