  1. TT: If you are just 1 person short for a trip, let me know; I'll gladly jump on to share the cost.
  2. Nice catch! When the catch is like that mixed bag, kinda hard to NOT fall in love with a fishery.
  3. About 4 other boats running round the South end. We didn't go very far North, it was chilly, and they had predicted rain by 10; so I am not surprised that there were not more out there.
  4. Went out of the Woodville launch @ 0500 today with FLX Troutman. Trolled up and down both east and west shores, even straight up the middle. One nice 3 # Brownie near first light on a green-themed spoon on the downrigger, that was IT! Had a great time, but there was nothing moving. Came in about 0930 so he could go to work with no more hits or knock-offs. Still a beautiful morning, although a little chilly.
  5. At the North end is the Canandaigua Lake State Marine Park, on Lakeshore Drive just south of 5 & 20. It is a very easy place to launch, and I would imagine it would be really easy for a kayak. You need an Empire Passport for financial reasons, $ 59.00 for a year per vehicle, otherwise it's $ 6.00 every time you enter. The good thing is that the Passport is good for all state parks.
  6. I am wanting to try, but I have not been able to get out much this year and learn how to fish for them (just moved here last year).
  7. Once you get near the pump house (West shore), you are in 100' of water. Not sure how easy the access is from there, but between the pier and there along the West shore I know are some nice bass and panfish spots.
  8. Oh, I am funny. But, looks aren't everything.
  9. Looking for an older, small (8 -9.9 hp) long shaft outboard for attaching to my Starcraft (it's got a 120 hp I/O) for trolling purposes. Not a lot of $$ available, but want a good running motor that will get better gas mileage. I would rather buy from one of you guys than elsewhere.
  10. I have an 18' Starcraft closed bow that is used for everything from tubing to trolling (starting this year ). Has a 120 hp Mercruiser I/O in it, and I am going to get a smaller motor for trolling. My question is: Do you guys think a 55 lb. electric trolling motor ( transom mounted ) will have enough @$$ to push me along at trolling speeds, or should I buy a small (7.5 - 9.9 hp ) gas motor? Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks for the ideas. It's an electric Cannon with an older style (not low profile) swivel base. Have 2 holders for the 2 dipsey rods (1 per side). Has a retro-ease line retriever, and I'm pretty sure the boom will swing in well enough to allow me to access the line without interfering with the dipsey rod on that side. Probably won't run more than 1 rigger rod (with slider), 2 dipsey's and maybe 1 flat line straight off the back. Boat is not roomy enough for more than 4 rods while trolling, I am sure of that. I think the Cannon will go port side corner on the transom.
  12. Finally got a dowrnwigger and associated gear for the Starcraft (18', 120 Merc I/O, closed bow "family" boat). Final question before I start drilling is, where should I place it? I can put the (swivel) base on the side, since the d-r has a 4' boom, and it will clear the transom by 1' or so, or I can run it straight off the transom, but I am worried about the lines getting near the prop. What do you all advise. I can mount the swivel base permanently on the boat (wife gave permission ) or I can buy a 1' section of track and a small riser to put the base onto. Looking for any advise, and thanks in advance.
  13. Nice fish, FLX! Hope to be able to return last year's fishing trips with my own this year, MY gas! Keep in touch!
  14. Woulda been fatter, but still a nice pike!
  15. I have had good luck with Duracell's ProCell batteries in my motorized duck decoy, even when hunting in 20 degree weather.
  16. I don't even KNOW Jax, and I'll blame him as well
  17. Anyone fishing out of the greater Rochester area Friday morning who needs another body to pull in fish or lines?? I have only been out for Salmon once, but it was a great time. Gotta start my new job on Monday, hoping to get out one more time before they stop biting.
  18. Just an update......... I GOT A JOB this afternoon. Work 0730 - 1600 Mon. - Fri. starting Monday. WOO HOO!!! Now I can spend all my money on gear!!!
  19. Afraid the "Honey-Do" list will overshadow the "Can I Get New Fishing Tackle" list.
  20. I GUARANTEE that it will work for now. Not working right now, but once I get another job......
  21. "Little" lakers in Canandagia are still interesting to me. My boat can be ran down there now. Just gotta get the downrigger on it, some rods/reels, tackle, etc... and I'll be out there on a regular basis. Lake O will have to wait until spring, as the boat still needs more repairs to be ran on the big water.
