  1. Fishbowl- Thanks for posting this up - sounds like a good time. For the perch derby, Does this payout any further than the number one weight? Perch Kids division? Thanks, Lavarock
  2. I've been thinking of a way to increase fisherman participation in this derby. Thoughts on having a perch division as well? Weight of five fish combined? Obviously it would'nt qualify for the lunker, but would be a great way to get shore / dock fisherman a chance at some fun. Also I noticed only 4 spots were paid out, was this the case in the past or was it 5?
  3. Nice to meet some fellow anglers at the weigh-in. We really appreciate the effort the "Salvo" and Barney/Bear put forth to put this together for us all to enjoy. It's a bit of a downer that these types of derbies are fewer and fewer. As I understaned it the Lighthouse - Myers derby will not be happening and we certainly miss the Red-Cross..... For us, this was certainly one of the most enjoyable derbies I've entered. The enjoyment came from seeing my seven year old beam with pride and a level of enthusiam greater then I've ever seen in him. A third place youth win for him created a day of Bliss for this old man. There is no doubt that we will enjoy a life time of fishing memories together - he has been firmly hooked! Thanks for the assembly of this derby to help light this passion! This moment surely overshadowed a lucky first place laker spot for me. Action was steady for us in the 65-75 foot range and we simply kept moving to find active fish. The bulk of the fish were very sluggish to respond and had to be teased to hit. We had one 45 minute window of steady active feeding saturday AM - the rest was a methodical pick. Moral of our weekend, TAKE A KID FISHING................
  4. The prediction is approaching major flooding - not good. I anticipate some form of craft advisory soon. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=bgm&gage=icyn6
  5. We jigged in the same area as well as the silos on 5/8. Nada for 4 anglers and 2.5 hours of fishing.
  6. Oh yeah - keep your presentation ats virtical as possible. (Time your cast to your drift)
  7. All good advice. We jigged lakers with success at 100 - 130 feet this weekend. If you are yaking, the lake is at a killing temp.- be smart and safe.
  8. Thanks for the chatter fellas. Preaching to the choir, but it's been to d#*n cold the last month to even think about it. I've been pushed too far this year, dipping into savings and heading to Islamarada on monday for a week to fish my a$$ off....
  9. Thanks for the tips fellas. We hit it again on friday. We covered 3 smaller creek faces along Elm beach for an hour +, no luck. I'm going to switch tackle up a bit and try again, but may focus on Taugh. or Watkins after that. Thanks again!
  10. I flatlined with my son a couple of times this weekend with my son just south of Deans Cove on Cayuga. Skunk both times, I'd really like to get him hooked-up.. We are using a 14' aluminum with a 8 hp. I had a small stick bait on one rod and a streamer fly / split shot on the other. (even snuck out a copper rod and a orange silver spoon for a while). Thoughts on different tackle to try next time? I checked our speed by lure action, so no real idea on speed. Thanks, a rusty troller

  15. Nice haul! Anychance you could post up the address / number of the person in Dundee thatdoes the smoking. Thanks, Lavarock
  16. Random cold weather slump thought........... I know lots of folks play around with spear fishing in Florida. Not that there would be a big market or season. Why is it against the rules in NY?
  17. Had a discussion with a co-worker that is friends with a charter captain on Cayuga. Due to the current state of the lake, he has decided not to chater out of Cayuga any more. He will be making the drive to Lake O. Anyone know of any other Cayuga Charter Captains that are considering moving their operation?
  18. Thank you for making this post. I e-mailed all of the contacts posted. Let's get this fishery back in shape!
  19. The decline in salmonids has been depressing. We actually bought a camp on cayuga 3 year's ago partly because of the great fishery - now the salmonids fishery is in the gutter! I will gladly send e-mails in concern of this issue - Could someone please post up the contact address? Also, is the DEC still planning treatment in the inlet in the spring of 2014? (Our office was loosley involved during the treatment in the early 80's and the environmentalists were supportive of the application at that time)
  20. Thanks for sharing. If you keep at it, it is just a matter of time before a large steely or king will find your jig as well.
  21. Don't look at is as a tournament, but a donation to a great organization.
  22. Thanks for the reminder. I signed up the other day at the Salvo head quarters. This is a great derby for an even greater cause. Good luck to everyone and bring your sunscreen!
  23. Thanks - sounds like a bounty of an outing!
  24. Search this site on the topic. Patient, patients -keep trying..... Watch the screen to see the mood of the lakers. Might consider hiring a guide to accelerate your learning curve. Good Luck
