  1. The colors on the King are unreal.
  2. You ever pick up a 4 stroke rolmops? Not practical to take it on and off every time. Lock it up the best you can.....if they really want it they will get it.
  3. Great fishing. I caught eight this weekend..........eight kids soccer games! It KILLED me not fishing this weekend with the perfect weather.
  4. That spoon pattern always works on spring kings.
  5. Did your core ever drag on mussels on the bottom or was this just a straight break?
  6. Micromanagement minute: Might I suggest Amish Outfitters tow line is 500 Lb spectra.....it ain't breaking! Also Tuf-line microcore uses a spectra sheath that won't rot like standard core.
  7. Great bird.
  8. Improved Cinch has never failed me. With large rings like on a dipsy swivel or when using braid, wrap the line twice thru before tying the Improved cinch.
  9. 12 lb Trilene XL green on my leaders. IMO the green mono is less visible in bright light as fluoro is shinny. If I can see it the fish can see it so I don't buy into the "invisible" line baloney. When I fish for upland trout with 3lb fluoro leaders I still can see it when the sun is high. With the exception of heavy flasher/fly leaders.....you don't need fluorocarbon.
  10. Thanks for the thoughts guys. I know the person who took the motor will get his in this life or the next.......karma is a beotch. When I got down to the boat I could have gone out and trolled with the I/O and trolling bags but I just didn't feel like fishing anymore so I drove home. I think I have a replacement swim platform located and insurance will be contacted about the motor.
  11. I am picturing it now...."ya these kings are ok but what we really want to catch are cookie-cutter browns"....too funny...and weird!
  12. If you have water in your tank K-100g can work magic. Seafoam for maintenance to keep your carbs running smoothly.
  13. Yes but I won't post any identifiable features here on this forum it might be a LOU member who stole it. Long shaft bought in 2005 so may have a manufacture date of 2004? I will see if I can dig up a picture.
  14. I thought I would post this in the hopes that somebody saw something last night. My boat is parked next to the entrance to Boat Doctors. The motor was stolen at some point after the time I left my rig at around 7pm. They cut the swim platform to remove the lock and chain. Pretty heavy motor so might have needed two people. Looks like they used a sawzaw if I had to guess.
  15. I think you guys will find success on those patterns on Erie also. Not only does the pattern look "goby-esque" but I have been finding Johnny Darters in the stomachs of perch and walleye last year on Erie fish. Johnny Darters look like a cross between a goby and a sculpin.
  16. It looks like the temps will below freezing from 12 am Friday night and won't rise above freezing until 8 am. What is everyone's opinion on if we should be worried about our blocks/thermostats freezing and cracking?
  17. Glen I have settled on removing the lead as others have stated then joined improved cinch knots. I wrap the backing or the leader twice around the leadcore sheath before tying. Get both knots started then crank the knots down on the final push together. Tie a little overhand knot in the tag ends of the braid and leadcore then melt down the tag to the knot to stop fraying of the tag. Been using it for two years now.
  18. 30lb mono with a light leader. The heavy mono floats the bait up higher.
  19. A torpedo-style weight will do fine as a probe rigger at 12 lbs.
  20. I took a king off a mag dipsy yesterday that was only out 44' over water depths in the 40' range. Just figure 2:1 ratio with a mag dipsy and 3:1 with a standard. If you tap bottom, bring it in, dust off the zebras and readjust your setback.
  21. I can confirm there are some kings mixed in. Shoreline bite was tough yesterday. Fish were hitting only when the wind changes happened. Like someone flipped a switch. I never seen Lake O get nasty so quick yesterday....it was like I was on Lake Erie.
