  1. BTW, for inquiring minds, I kept a large silver bass this weekend and ate it next to walleye and could not tell the difference. Tastes exactly the same.
  2. Another good outing this morning. Gobie-like color schemes still working best. The below custom color bandit has taken 3/4 of the walleye this weekend.
  3. Naw, we don’t need NOAA, we can have Trump pull out his sharpie and show us which way the hurricane will track. And if that hurricane blows in a new strain of COVID, Trump says just mainline bleach. Including that little blue pill you all take, probably every modern miracle was started by a science project with some degree of government grant funding. We kind of need the scientific community people! You shouldn’t fear everything that you don’t understand.
  4. Good few hours trolling boards along contour lines last night. Walleye, bass, sheep and perch all hitting. When the cottonwoods start dropping their fluff, this pattern seems to shine. Depth was in 17-25’ range. Walleye were beautiful dark in color and had small gobies in stomachs indicating orientation to rock.
  5. ……and post your results here! Much appreciated.
  6. I can see where someone might not see the value in putting monitoring chips in Gobies but in this world of make America’s ballrooms great again….I see great value in funding scientists that study the natural world.
  7. Nice box. Glad the three year olds are showing up.
  8. https://oceanographicmagazine.com/news/trump-administration-dismantles-critical-ocean-floor-observation-network/ I wonder if the Great Lakes monitoring system is next for the chopping block?
  9. Anyone find a daytime bite out in the lake? Seems like everything is still scattered and setting up.
  10. I took a stroll off the perch grounds off the Catt yesterday to see if fish are deep. ZERO marks on the graph. The wind was gentle out of the West so with my two daughters aboard I set down in 35’ and drifted three way rigs with minnows all the way into 12’. One gobie …. A little disconcerting the lack of fish presence with water temps 52-54 degrees.
  11. I took a looksee out of the Catt today at noonish. Checked out some rocky structures that hold fish and found them vacant. No bites. No marks on the graph. I think the ice this year has us behind last year. Plenty of fish being caught at night off Brocton and Evan’s at night. Plenty of walleye still in the upper Niagara. There were two trailers in the parking lot and did not see the perchers on their usual spots. Anyone find a daytime bite ?
  12. I wanted to get out and wet a line before the rain came this morning. Early rise but the bass were snapping ahead of the front. Ten bass on a jerkbait. Half largemouth and half smallmouth.

  13. Once again the power of LOU on display!
  14. They have been around awhile. I get the sense it is run as a side job of a charter captain in Ohio. Probably too tired to keep up the side business as it should.
  15. While milking 2 year olds at the hatchery
  16. And yet king size has diminished.
  17. Ah. Nothing wrong with preserving them and using for kings
  18. And if they are dying from VHS you could spread it to another body of water. Leave’em be.
  19. And yet look at the Walleye Slam and the Fall Brawl in Ohio. Tons of contestants. Low registration fee. Huge payouts. I think a lot of out of staters are getting their derby fix on Lake Erie.

  21. Speaking of changes during the derby, did anyone live through the gnat swarms Saturday?? It was hard to breathe.
