  1. Hope your garage home improvement project went swell Adam . Man, you have got to get your priorities straight . Could have used you today, too hard to work planer board tactics with two guys in waves.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Gill-T Hooker ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water:9:30-2:00 Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 1-3' Surface Temp: 46 degrees Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 18? Total Boated:15? Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 2 mph Down Speed: Boat Depth: 12-18 Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Great fishing continues along Niagara County. Great thing is you don't have to get out there at the crack o'dawn, as fish bite all day. Fished the stained water in 12-14' FOW and managed a mixed bag of cohos, lakers and a ton of really quality Browns. UV- firetiger thunderstick jr.'s, Northport Nailer Orange/Ice/Glow-gold, RR UV-coated spooks, and a demo plug I am testing. Lost a GIANT Brown in the high teens as it jumped into my chute leadcore All lines took fish ....clean plugs, plugs and spoons with split shot, riggers, 1.5 color core. ====================
  3. You need a thru-hull transducer.
  4. A technique that has been used since at least the 80's is to put various split shot weights ahead of the spoon. Deeper depths can be achieved with rubbercore sinkers. Go high in the water column early and then drop your baits deeper, later in the day is a good rule of thumb. Lighter weights on the outside lines, heavier weights on the inside lines when using planer boards.
  5. Measurement is from the knot at the the base of the loop attachment, back to where the tow line enters the holes in the board.
  6. Exactly Jason, big fish on the fingers are 10-12 lb lakers..........like dragging in a wet boot
  7. Before you go and invest in large reels and 10-12 color set-ups go aboard a boat that runs these rigs and find out if that is how you want to fish. Personally, I would find dragging fingerlakes-sized fish in on a 10 color as boring. You could achieve the same depths with shorter cores and pinch on weights. I stop at seven colors then go to copper or pinch-on weights if I need to go deeper.
  8. Your wife would have had dibs on all your Pink Alewife spoon patterns.
  9. I run small curly tailed grubs behind a peanut head/cowbells instead of beads for lakers. We were just starting to go deeper for Lakers when we took the king and the skies opened up so we decided to end the day on a good note instead of trying to complete a grand slam.
  10. Welcome back to Port Vince, I see you discovered the icon LOL Isn't it funny how all the Kings lakewide seem to always be in-step with each other. I saw your double king tweet as well as other similar king reports all around a similar time. For whatever reason the Kings turned on after 12:00. Fish are FAT and healthy.
  11. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Gill-T Hooker ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4-1 Time on Water:7:30-1:30 Weather/Temp:Damp with rain and sleet Wind Speed/Direction:West Waves: 1' Surface Temp: 43-44 degrees Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 25-30? Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Browns, Coho, Atlantic, and a King Hot Lure: Northport Nailer Orange/Ice/Glow on Gold, Hot'n'tot Trolling Speed: 1.8 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 8'-27' Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Shake down cruise. Busy morning with lots of hits. Batting average was not great. I think we lost at least 7 fish on the chute 1.5 color leadcore rod. Spoons took 3/4 of the hits. One on a Rapala flat-rap, and maybe 6-7 shots on small hot'n'tot. Ran a nine rod spread most of the morning (exhausting) with planer lines off both sides, a rigger rod, and a chute leadcore. Fished the brown trout inshore water, with better temps and more fish out a little deeper 14-17 FOW. Near the end of the trip we were greeted with a nice surprise while peeling out into deeper water for Lakers when the chute leadcore took a hit, screamed around......ran up to mid-port.....and back....love spring Kings!!!! ====================
  12. Eppinger Black Evil-Eyes, Michigan Stinger S109 Mayfly and R288 Glow Goby, Wolverine Tackle Silver Streak 09 Brown Trout, Northport Nailer K-26 and K30, Dreamweaver SS1381 and SS1653. Savant Jake used to have the best pattern but I see they are not being offered anymore in that color?
  13. "Quality Time", your example of a fast moving bass boat will continue with or without a safety course. Nine rod spreads will not be covered in the class.
  14. Just saw Danny's show on Outdoor Channel with Trev Gowdy. Really highlighted Niagara County's treasures.
  15. I don't think the license will cover backing up a boat on a trailer. Sounds more like a money grab. Will current boat owners be grandfathered-in?
  16. Rare but not unheard of. I caught a slightly darkened king at Burt one year at the end of March.
  17. It will be marked on the pump as no ethanol.
  18. Happy B-day Larry. Have a pack of cigarettes at Jerry's house and relax.
  19. I would say that I set my Blacks release to a similar release tension as my dipsys. If I was fishing the fingerlakes where smaller fish might not pop the release, I would consider the Chamberlains or Scotty's. The Scotties have that tether that shows small shakers. Nothing wrong with a release not popping on small fish IF you see the bouncing rod and are not dragging a fish. In fact your hook up ratio will be better with a tighter release. Lets face it.......Lakers ain't Kings!
  20. The trolling motor up front really helps you stay directly over your bait to feel the bottom ticking the weight and when fish hit. Keep in mind lakers live a long time and have been caught before. If you are feeling a "tick" and you check your bait only to find it missing you may have to add a cheater hook to the back of the minnow. I have found most of my fish come on that back hook.
  21. Plan B would be to bring your trolling gear for Kings or drifting the bar for lakers.
  22. Most of the gas at marinas are treated ethanol gas.
  23. WNY fishermen. The NOCO station on Whitehaven Rd. on Grand Island sells no ethanol gas with the 93 octane rating. With everyone starting to fill-up maybe others could list stations with good gas.
  24. Hit the pier this evening. Browns, cohos and odd pike are around. Emeralds are in. We are way ahead of schedule.
  25. Prespawn fish sometimes don't move much. Try a white jig'n'pig (white eel trailer) or a darker pattern, dropped on the bottom in front of their nose. Gently tingle it like you would for bedded bass.
