If you add water to soup it will dilute it. For phosphorus it is a timing issue. Ohio farmers don't start fertilizing their fields until later in the spring. Dr. Weidel check the phosphorus levels from June thru September data if you have it. The data below shows trends but doesn't tell the story of our high water period.

There was a mud line and debris field that developed from the currents near the power plant that extended out into the midwaters. Bait and kings used that finger of off-colored water as a highway to move from deep winter pattern into nearshore water all spring long. I never really had to go anywhere but near the power plant all year to find fish.
Olcott has floating docks. You will be able to trailer there despite high water levels. You also should be able to use the Youngstown launch. The fort and Wilson might prove difficult unless they put floating docks in.
I had a group of robins sounding off this morning and I saw some Turkey Vultures. Coming quick. The goal is to get as much fishing in while water levels are good. Not sure I will be able to slip my boat for spring LOC if water levels are to be what is predicted to flush out of the upper lakes.
Heavily stocked but not sure how hatchery closures will effect. Water is often too high in spring so July should be ok. If your boys can throw spinners on spinning gear, they can catch trout.
Funny how how a change meant to help shipping industry and spun to “better for the environment” has had the opposite effect. All the septic overflows, oil and gas runoff, the carbon cost to make repairs, siltation of eroding shoreline etc etc. Horrible decision in hindsight.
Agreed! The hot spoon keeps hitting because of the fish smell on it. I would also agree you don't want fish smell to rot on something. If I actually used meat, I would probably clean my meat heads at the end of each day.
Great place. Go into park in evening and it is like a safari of big game. Estes lake has trout that you can get to with a belly boat. Dry fly midge hatches in evening. The out flow below Estes Lake dam is quick boulder pocket nymph fishing. Small bead head presentations. If you go over the top of divide, the outflow of shadow Mountain Reservoir or the headwaters of the Colorado River get a nod.
