  1. Late 1970's Yamaha 2 stroke with bad #1cylinder. All else is in good condition. Controller and 20 ft shift and throttle cables included. $150.
  2. FYI, Sylvan and Starcraft are both divisions of and made by Smoker Craft. Don't know how far back that goes but may be useful to know.
  3. If you use very hot water with Slimy Grimey it works much better. I always bring a large pot of water near boiling then do the mix in the sprayer.
  4. You can go online and find data on which boat brands stopped using wood in structural applications and what year they stopped. That is the best indicator of how to eliminate future problems.
  5. Noco Genius is a solid unit. Have two and never had any problems.
  6. Fished yesterday afternoon/eve from 2pm to 7pm. Motored out of Sandy Pond and headed to 140 ft in front of the Salmon river. Rough ride to get there but tolerable when trolling. Good temp down in the 120 ft range. Only one 12 lb Coho on a Warrior Salmon Candy for nearly 4 1/2 hrs of trolling. Had a few boats nearby and never saw any activity on any of them.
  7. Way off normal for this time of year
  8. Semi sucks. Working hard but getting a few.
  9. These pics were taken when I was first constructing it. Another bolt was added near the bottom since these pics. The aluminum plate on the plastic motor clamp plate was added because the plastic plate wasn't wide enough to facilitate the bolt holes on the Suzuki 9.9
  10. I have the heavier of the two Panther fixed brackets. It is rated for over 200 lbs. Beware that it does not protrude enough from the transom to allow complete tilt up. I spaced it out an additional few inches with aluminum angle. This also allowed me to adjust the height as necessary. Can send additional pics if needed.

  12. Been doing well in Mexico Bay the past few weeks. As of this morning the big blow didn't materialize.
  13. I fish out of Sandy Pond and have been doing about the same as you describe for the last few weeks. Been a good July.
  14. After I read your post again I realized you are completely disconnected from the main hydraulics. The only basic difference you may have from mine is you don't have a dedicated helm for the kicker. That's deserves consideration.
  15. Get another hydraulic steering unit just for the 9.9. mount the helm in a convenient location and put a small crank handle on it. Vevor has a hydraulic steering setup with the helm, cylinder, hoses and fittings. Oil must be bought separately. I paid about $250 for that setup about 1 1/2 years ago. Remove the AP from your main unit and install it to the new system dedicated to the kicker. I know the Yamaha 9.9 has a steering tube so the cylinder will mount on it. My system is a Lowrance Outboard Pilot controlled by a HDS 12 Lowrance but it shouldn't matter what you have running it. It works very well in any waves I am willing to fish in.
  16. The 2006 means it meets the EPA standards that will be in effect until 2006, not that it was manufactured in 2006.
  17. More pics
  18. Probably the circuit board inside the riggers. The older ones used Omron relays that weren't rated for the current that the initial start would require. Allot of those were replaced with a non momentary switch. The older circuit boards are not available as far as I know.
  19. That Yamaha has a steering tube. . You can put on a typical outboard hydraulic cylinder and T it into and run it from your main hydraulic system.
  20. 13 to 17' is about 9-13' too much for me.
  21. The Lowrance cable steer autopilot is about $1500 and would work with the existing steering but you would need specific Lowrance units such as the HDS gen 2 or greater to operate it.
  22. I have the same boat. I put on a 9.9 Suzuki EFI for added safety and lower fuel consumption. Added a dedicated hydraulic steering system just for the 9.9. I also had a Lowrance hydraulic outboard autopilot system which integrated directly into my HDS12 Lowrance. I am surprised how well it works. The extra helm for the dedicated system is installed next to the cabin door and has a small crank handle to turn the 9.9 when not using the autopilot. This is very useful to me when the water is low in my area as I can trim the I/O up completely and use the 9.9 to get to my dock. Attached is a picture showing the fuel tank on the ladder. I have since attached the fuel line directly to the extra port on the Mercruiser filter on the 4.3 with no adverse effects. Lowrance also has an autopilot that attaches behind the helm and therefore would keep the stoch steering in tact. I can't comment on its effectiveness but I know it exists.

  25. I currently have a 4.3 Mercruiser which has 5 drain plugs. Pull them out one at a time and blow compressed air into the drain plug thread area. A hose with a rubber cone for good sealing against the hole in the block and a valve upstream does the trick. A few blasts in each hole and you will be amazed what comes out. I run in a muddy area on Sandy Pond and it sucks up a lot of mud especially late in the season. Been doing it this way for over 40 years with no problems. Had friends that just pulled the plugs or didn't do the antifreeze properly and had cracked blocks.
