  1. I find I catch a bit more on dipsies than riggers. I use 50 lb powerpro braid and have no problems. Powerpro has a new type with a slippery coating that is a bit better on the fleas. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Meant to say DEKA batteries, not Deca Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. The deep cycle batteries are usually not maintenance free. They are very thirsty and require water frequently. If you are not very vigilant and let the plates get exposed, they will be damaged. Some look like they do not have access to refill with DISTILLED water but if you look and pry carefully the covers with caps are there. I have been using the Duracell type from Sam's Club. They are made by Deca batteries in Pennsylvania and have been good for the price. Of course keeping them fully charged as much as possible is the other factor. 4. There should be a position sensor that connects to the out drive on the Sportpilot. It is not shown in the picture. Do you have it? Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Well, no responses. I guess not too much use yet since they are very new. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

You are correct about pumps in the fishboxes but that doesn't stop them from filling when you are not there to pump them out. For example, I was trailering in the rain and when I arrived at the lake , 230 miles, the boxes were filled so I was towing a few hundred lbs of water. Not good. 9. I have a 36 volt 112 lb Terrova on a Trophy 2052 I/O. Boat weighs 3500 lbs. I troll with the main engine running as slow as possible, about 650 rpm with the 4.3 Mercruiser. Use the Terrova as autopilot and to control final trolling speed as necessary. It is extremely good at those functions. My problem is deploying it and retrieving it when done. Can be bad in 3+ ft waves. I don't believe you will have much luck using it as the only trolling power source on a 3500 lb boat. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  14. Bat 1 to bat 1 term on switch, bat 2 to bat 2 on switch, all positive on boat to output of switch EXCEPT supply to automatic side of bilge pump. That goes directly to a battery. That is in case you turn off the switch the auto side of the pump continues to work. If you can't fit all pos to the output of the switch neatly, run a red battery cable to a suitable buss and hook all pos there. ALL neg can go to a single, neat negative buss. 15. Wd40 is ok in a pinch but the best penetrating oil in the industry is In the picture. Let it set a long time. PB blaster would be my second choice if I didn't have the 1st choice Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Take a look at a company called Oceansouth. They have a stainless one for up by to 96 in beam for a very low price of about 150. Seen it as low as $127. Seems too good to be true. Look at the boats for sale in this forum and there was a Trophy 2052 that was sold a few weeks ago with one on it. It comes with 6 rod holders but you can add more as the Trophy shows 8. 17. Don't forget about Sylvan, that is part of the group. A few years ago I was looking into buying a used Starcraft. They wanted $500 to transfer the warranty to a new owner for a two year old boat. Didn't buy it, crazy company. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I have a Sea Nymph GLS 175 with a 70 hp Yamaha 4 stroke. I use it for early spring browns. Also use it heavily for bass and walleye on Sandy Pond. Last year I put on a Motor Guide XI3 which is functionally the same as a Minnkota terrova. It is a 52lb.54 shaft 12v that was on sale at Cabellas. Paid $949 and got a 50 rebate on top so final cost $900. I use it as an autopilot for spring browns with the main motor pushing and the XI3 steering the course on low power. Easily gets about 5 hrs out of a good battery doing that but I keep two on board. Has the "anchor"function that works great for bass on a windy day. 19. Blisters are caused by osmosis which is the water seeping through the gelcoat. Had a few boats that did that because the gelcoat is not completely non porous. Happens mostly if boat is at a slip all season. Newer boats went to forms of vinylester topcoat which is much better but its drawback is that it is very brittle and cracks easily. I had seen a marina up near Chaumont Bay that bottom coats boats with a very heavy coat of black material that looked similar to truck bed liner but with a glossy finish. Seemed to be about 1/8 thick. If I were looking for a bottom coat that would be the one. Cant remember the name of the marina, but Martin's sort of rings a bell. Great boat for lake O. I have the same thing. Runs great in heavy waves for its size. Looks like you have solved my only complaint, the fishboxes filling with water. Any info on the fishbox seals would be appreciated. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  25. Works great. Problem is I have it on a 21 ft walkaround and I mostly fish alone. Going out to the pulpit area to deploy in 3 to 4 footers is a bit dangerous. Dont need to be taking chances like that at this age. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
