    I believe that punching a button to get English or Spanish was introduced by several large businesses that were trying to sell their goods to everybody in this great country.It was picked up later by many others including government. I never new that hiring illegal aliens at less than minimum wages was a liberal democrat thing.I always though that ruthless capitalists were responsible.

    I really have to take issue with the idea of these "forbidden areas" After 9/11 there was a fear of terrorist activity which, if aimed at nuclear plants can indeed cause a disaster.There is no reasonable comparison between a windmill and a nuclear plant because windmills do not have radiation or fall out or any other disastrous result if attacked.The worst that can happen is that one or two out of a proposed 560 generators can fall down. That would hardly be a terrorist target.Therefore I do believe that forbidden zones will not be more than safety areas right under the propellers where I would not want to be anyway. I travel quite frequently in Europe and I have seen the huge wind mill farms off the Dutch and German coast in the North Sea. They are mostly greyish and sort of melt into the landscape.Most Germans and Dutchmen I talked with and asked about these wind mills said that they got used to them and they are now part of the landscape,almost like they were always there.Many people were quite proud that they were doing something about the energy crisis. If you ever have a chance to travel in North West Germany or North East Holland you will see very many "wind farms" with cows grazing underneath and dairy farmers are happy to be wind farmers as well

    NIMBY all over again. The truth is that we have an energy problem.It is also true that windmills can be part of the solution. Accusing Albany of a problem that we are all partly responsible for creating does not strike me as being effective in any way. As for letting business people run it... ENRON,CHRYSLER,GMC,AIG,THE BANKS,WALLSTREET. Private business is potentially just as corrupt and greedy as government can be. On the positive end of things.Windmills do produce energy.They also provide a lot of local work for maintenance. The general attitude of not wanting change here,will make that change happen somewhere else and we will become a third world country,with only ourselves to blame.

    This afternoon I was in Gander Mountain in Henrietta and I noted a brand new 840 Fish Hawk (transducer,viewer and probe)on sale for $450.If you want one, then this is your chance to get it cheap!

    That does look like a great bracket. But what about the trailering part? Do you have to make adjustments to your trailer in order to keep the right amount of tongue weight? Or do you remove the outboard when you trailer your boat?

    Ethanol has been in our gas in Rochester and most of the country for that matter for the past 8 years. Ethanol will loosen up dirt in your lines and old tanks.This dirt will make it to your injectors unless you have good filters along the way.There is no need for 2 stroke outboards to go higher than 87 octane,so unless you run a 4 stroke you can stick with 87. Ethanol will dry up and crack old (pre 2000) rubber fuel lines and rubber seals and gaskets. Just make sure that whatever fuel lines you buy have "alcohol resistant " printed on the line or package. The one point where ethanol will cause trouble is with fiber glass fuel tanks because it will dissolve the seams and that is bad news. If you want to put a stabilizer in your fuel then you should go with "Sea Foam",because this not only stabilizes,it also decarbs and cleans your injectors and carburetors and on top of that you can also use it to winterize your engine when you get it in a spray bottle.It is available in car parts stores.(advanced auto parts and the like)

    We launched at Mayers Marina at 11/7 and the launch is fine.Just go under through the pedestrian bridge and stay close to the fuel dock until you are in the channel. I forgot and it cost me a prop. The perch are coming in strong, you will see the "fleet" in the bay next to the second set of channel markers.Just fish at about 25 to 30 feet down or you will catch mostly gobies

    I probably won't winterize until mid December,but I have to take care of some things in Europe around the 10th of December, so we should try before that. A windy dark day on the bay seems like what we need, I'm sure there will be plenty of those. Cornelis.

While drifting and cruising just south of the 104 bridge in the bay I saw my fish finder screen full of pods of bait fish and big fish following,mostly between 25 and 32 foot down,over 25 to 60 fow.I threw a lot of jigs, lures and live bait at them all to no avail. Can somebody please tell me what these fish are and how they are caught? Thank you,cornelis.

    I bought my food saver at BGs for $130. As it turns out,the eBay ones are usually the ones that are no longer made for stores and they are excess supply. I like mine so much that, combined it with an inverter,we ( the three of us) always take it on extended fishing trips to Cape Cod and after making proper portions,I vacuum pack all my fish before it goes in the cooler,usually while on the boat.That way the fish stays very fresh and after a week we usually come back with a few hundred pounds of cod,haddock ,stripers,bluefish and this last trip one extra cooler with 150 pounds of bluefin tuna steaks.That foodsaver pays for itself every time it goes to the Cape.

    I have a few Penn Senator 113s and a few Penn 330 GTI levelwinds.I use them both on Lake Ontario and for Striper and Cod fishing off Gloucester. . The Penns were all bought on Ebay (used) for less than $40 a piece. All they needed was a cleaning ,some lube and a set of drag washers.I have yet to see a reel that beats a Penn.

    They come in 3 year cycles. But it is also possible that you have something going on there that stops them. Maybe you should inform someone at the DEC about your experience at the Oak.They may be very interested.

    I would very much like to know the name of this dealership,because I am looking into buying another boat and this is one guy that I want to remove from my dealers list. I hope that you informed the boat company of the disgusting treatment at the hands of this dealer.His name should be on the front page of this website as a warning to potential boat buyers!!

    So you are on Iboats too. Here comes again. Zebra mussels love to attach themselves to the intakes on your lower unit.they will grow so thick that they will actually cover the intakes on the outside and the inside. they do not usually go up to the engine block because most of the time(when you don't run the engine) there is no water there. Just take a piece of wire and clean out the intakes and the tubing going up to the engine. It is important to raise your lower unit out of the water when you don't use the boat.The best way to prevent and also kill the zebra mussels is by letting them dry out.

    The perch in the bay are anywhere between 4 and 14 inches.The bigger ones are usually at the bottom of the school.The trick is to get your bait/lure all the way down without having it attacked by the small ones. I have good success with a small lure called "mini mite" usually tipped with a maggot or very small piece of worm. As it gets colder,the perch move less and it is often a good idea to move over the school. That makes it a lot easier to feel the these often very light hits.

    Hello Tom, Thanks for the pictures.The white bass is definitely very similar to what I caught,except that it was more streamlined ,more striped bass like.Probably it was just a very large male,much larger than I ever caught before.
